On Sunday September 16 the Equestrian Guild will be hosting a
Gathering and BBQ at Llamrei & Titus' house in LaPorte. If you are
inerested in horsey things, please come join us! The gathering will
begin at around 4:00 p.m. and last a few hours, I should think. So
even if you are planning on attending fighter practice, you could
come over afterwards. This will be a bring your own something to
grill, and if you have something to share as a side dish, bring that
along as well. If not, come on out anyway!
We will be having our regular practice from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on
the same day out at Mountain View Stables in Ft Collins. We are
going to garb-up and bard-up (which means dress our horses too) for
some fun photo taking. Come on out and watch us if you're
interested in seeing what the horses can do! Bring your own chair if
you would prefer to sit. There is shade, at least until it hits
noon, when all the shade sort of disappears.
Here are directions to Llamrei & Titus' for the 4:00 p.m. BBQ.
Llamrei has offered to draw a map as well, and I bet Map Quest could
help too, especially if you match it up with the directions!
4732 Rutters Drive in Laporte. Phone number is 493-4365
Directions from the south: coming from I-25, exit on Mulberry Street
and head west until you find your way to College Street in Old Town
Fort Collins (US 287). Turn left onto College and go northwest, like
you are going to the Poudre Canyon--follow signs for the Hwy 14
Scenic Byway. Go north past Jax Outdoor store, past Aragon Metals,
past Jax Farm and Ranch store. The next stoplight after Jax Farm and
Ranch is Shields Street. The next light after Shields is the 287
bypass, which goes around Laporte proper. Turn right onto the bypass
and keep going north. It is a big highway that winds into the
foothills. You go several miles on the bypass. The road turns more
west and heads downhill as it goes past a log home building place on
the south side of the road.Right across the road from the log home
place is County Road 56. It is a dirt road at the base of the hill
right before a bridge over the irrigation ditch. There is a sign but
it is small, and you have to be really careful to slow down at the
base of the hill to make the turn. Turn right on County Road 56. If
you come to Ted's Place, you have gone too far. County Road 56
splits just off the highway, and you must immediately turn right
again onto County Road 23, also dirt. Follow County Road 23
northeast for about 1/2 of a mile to Rutters Drive. There is a group
of mailboxes on the right at the T intersection, and you can only
turn left. Turn left onto Rutters. It is washboarded and there are
lots of rabbits, so go slow. Go past the first two houses on the
right, and take the next driveway on the right, just across the road
from the small outdoor arena. About 50 feet in, there is a big rock
on the left side with the house numbers on it. The drive goes back
maybe 75 yards to a little complex of buildings, following a split
rail fence. There is a circle drive around our big garage/workshop,
which is brown and white. The house is 1 story and kind of gray.
People can park anywhere on the drive--there's plenty of room. Call
Llamrei & Titus if you get lost.
If you have any questions, give me a shout!
