Re: [CFLHorseClub] brevard horse in need

What is BASE?  Is that there animal control?  I don't think animal control can refuse to help an abused animal.  Maybe they should make this an issue.  Other animal control agencies may be able to assist with facilities.  South Florida seems to have the capability though fund are always a problem.  Sounds like he is old... that will be tough.  Poor Paco.

Subject: [CFLHorseClub] brevard horse in need

I received this in e-mail today.  I don’t know the horse or anything about the situation.  What you read below is all I know.  Please contact them directly at the e-mail given if you’re able to help.

Paco the Horse is in need of foster or rescue. He was left on his owner's property back in January (property is now a short sale). To our knowledge, no one has been taking care of Paco on a regular basis and his situation is deteriorating. BASE did little to respond to neighbor complaints about poor Paco. A foster was willing to take Paco back in Feb, but BASE wasn't ready to do anything for Paco, and now the foster won't take Paco. Paco is hungry. He is not being fed on a regular basis, according to witnesses, and needs help now.

After speaking with BASE, the Director is interested in taking the horse away from his "owners," but needs a rescue or foster to care for the horse. Paco is a brown horse, apparently 30 yrs old. Paco's hooves were trimmed back on 1/31/09. Dr. Grayson examined him on 4/15/09 and recommended that the owners place Paco on senior food and also back on alpha cubes, soaking both of them in water so that the horse could digest it better. She also stated that she doesn't believe the horse is getting the proper amount of food and it could actually be malnourished based on her exam.

If you can help, please email fightagainstcruelty @yahoo.com and I will get your email to the appropriate person. Paco has been waiting a very long time for help. Let's save him!! Thank you!

I could probably foster him temporarily.  Read that.  TEMPORARILY.  I'll have the room after Monday.    -Stephanie Thelen ...
