I did get a couple actually. So Hannah is going to speak to them both and decide. I would have a preference so I'm keeping out of it.
I have thought a lot about what you said about not taking things on and I've been reviewing what I'm doing. Also talking to a friend I realised that I probably have situational depression, which made me feel better when I realised what is going on!
Anyway I just wanted to say again how much I enjoyed our day and our chats. I'd love to know the name of the intuition book you spoke about. I hope all is going well for you.
Did you get a response on this? Of course I would be happy to help but I think I am probably too close. If you had no takers, I can send to the class I mentored on.
My daughter is 19 and has had to defer her second year at Uni, so she's back home and a bit lost really. The deferring is complicated, but not her fault. I think she could really do with some coaching, but I'm too close to the situation to do it. She isn't earning so can't afford to pay. I wondered if someone would like the opportunity to have some practise?

Good of you to organise this. I will be coming to the Christmas Party and would love to get involved in a fitting send off to Barbara before she heads back to the US. I vote for some nice food, to soak up the alcohol for light weights like me who can't booze with the best of them. Keep me posted on how the plans develop.
Best wishes, Sharon

Sorry for switching plans after you had so kindly tried to arrange a send off. Perhaps I need some coaching around organising and planning!
Thanks again for trying to organise a get together.

Thanks much for that – I really appreciate you organising. By the way, I am planning on going to the CD Christmas event, so if it is too difficult to arrange something else, I will at least see those who attend.
For me, the earlier the better. There is some chance I leave before the end of Jan – still have not worked that through.
Again, thanks much,
Barbara

Dear everyone,
I am delighted that Alister Scott will be leading a discussion on Coaching and
Sustainability at the next CDLG. Below is a paragraph he has written on a
similar discussion group he is running for a network in Sussex.
"The human race faces an unprecedented set of linked crises: climate change,
obesity, deforestation and rapid extinctions, high levels of mental illness,
over-fishing, the stress epidemic, global poverty to name but a few. We also, as
Tom Paine said: 'have it in our power to build the world anew' - much more now
than in his day. It is almost as if we are at an evolutionary crossroads.
What is the role of coaching in what has been called the Great Work of putting
humanity on a sustainable trajectory? If we believe in the power of coaching to
bring transformation, what are our responsibilities as coaches? How do we
balance a passion for human potential, sustainability and a love of life with a
commitment to a non-directive philosophy of support for our clients?
For over 20 years, Dr Alister Scott has grappled with these questions. Come and
join a facilitated discussion; bring your ideas, passions, and challenges - and
anything else you feel can help move us all forward!"
If you have already replied please do not feel you need to reply again.
The CDLG is open to all people who have been on the CD Coaching Certificate. We
have check-in groups, followed by an hour's talk on a subject, then triads. We
try to have the meetings on the first Wednesday of the month, unless I am
travelling. The following meetings are in my diary as:
Wednesday 4th November - Candy on NLP Submodalities
Wednesday 2nd December - Looking for a volunteer
I hope to see you soon.
With best wishes
Candy
As a reminder, the usual details are:

reception is not manned after this time)

My mobile is 07809 100098

onwards. I am delighted to get messages if you can't come, but please do not
feel obliged to tell me.
Thank you

Hope you are all well.
The Spring '09 CD class is organising a get-together in London on the 16th of Oct.
They say that it will be day 5 of 20 for the group that started on the Fall '09 programme. Some of them are meeting for drinks in the Living Room at Angel and are giving the option to the new group and to us to join them.

My how time flies, Eva six months!
I think the market is tough out there. My coaching contacts are still finding
work but most are not pure coaches and have some other lines of business. I
think you might also find a number of executives who have been paid off and
completed coaching courses with their redundancy payments will increase the
volume on the market. I am finding that feedback in the interim market as I do
that work alongside my consultancy and trying to build up my coaching.
Good coaches still get work but rates are more competitive and clients more
discerning. You might also find more coaching at certain levels and less in
certain groups. I am not sure if the middle managers or senior level coaching
will be most hard hit.
Going down the associate root is an option. wasn't Sarah Cook a person to ask
about that. The only contact I have is Camilla Arnold at TXG. She knows her
stuff, is a formidable coach but there is a tough selection process.
Call me if you want to chat more. Must dash for food.
Sharon

Thank you for the recommendation. I went along last night – really thought provoking and great to hear input from other coaches. Our mentor, Damon, was there too. Certainly worth looking out for other events with the Group.
Event: Coaching on the Edges
Speaker: Nicola Stevens
Venue: CIPD, Manning House, 22 Carlisle Place, London SW1P 1JA
I thought people might be interested in the above event as Nicola Stevens is the author of Learn to Coach which was one of the recommended books on the coaching course. These events cost £10 and start with networking and then a session on a topical coaching issue.
Look at the londoncoaching.co.uk website for more details. I have another appointment that evening or I would have tried to get to this out of curiosity if nothing else. Her website is also worth looking at.
Hope all are well Could anyone direct me to firms that employ independents as associate coaches...i.e. they find the work and one just turns up and does it?
Also as Eva is now 6 months and I have been out of touch for a while I'd be grateful if any of you could spare the time to let me know how the market is looking currently - and how it's been over the summer.
using you all as a research shortcut - hope that's ok Thanks Pippa
In Cambridge the market is slow. Swamped with coaches offering every kind of coaching under the sun, most untrained or trained with dubious people. A friend of mine whose husband trained with CD a few years ago - he's just completed the diploma, said that his clients are all trying to haggle with him over price. She's also only got 2 clients, and she's an author of a parenting book with 10 years experience etc, so well known, been on the radio etc.
I've also begun networking recently at at both the meetings I've been to there have been other coaches, in one there were 4 others as well as me.
Hope this helps.
