Question regarding weather:

If it is downpouring at the start, I need to let you decide what you want to do
that is ride. What would you do at the event? Rick, Barb and I were fortunate as
we didi not have to make this decision. The only time that I bailed on a
training ride was 3/4 way thru severe winds and we were almost blown off bikes.
Remember Barb?

I cannot give you a concrete answer. Fortunately, there are doubles thru Nov in
order to get your three. Collin and Carolyn what would you prefer as well as
Gil and Mike who are doing Butterfield?

Collin and Susie -

I really want to go and hate to be a downer, but have you looked at the weather
forecast for this weekend? They are talking about the biggest set of storms in
decades...Yikes. They expect about 10 feet of snow in the Sierra between
tomorrow and next Tuesday.  What is our rain cancellation policy?

Cheers,
Charlise

Hi folks, Happy New Year!!

Sunday 1/6/2008, meet at 6:30 a.m. at 3060 Goodwin Ave., Redwood City (650)
533-0970; roll at 7 a.m. with a desired time line to finish the first 40 miles
by around 9:30 a.m. (to avoid major mid-morning traffic around 280/Millbrae/
101).

This should be a fun and not-too-strenuous ride just so we can get the miles and
climbing in per Susie's instruction.

Since no one can read/follow/ can-read instructions anyway, no additional route
sheet will be given so stay close (Mike/Gil... )  Haha.  You lose contact with
the ride leaders and get lost, it is your problem..... ....;-)

In any case, here is the route which should be right around 100 miles with
around 6,000+ feet of climbing, give or take +/- 5 miles and 1,000 feet of
attitude:

Start down Goodwin Ave
right on Fernside Ave.
straight on Alameda de las Puegas
right on 84 Woodside Road
right on Canada Road
left on 92
right on 35 Skyline Blvd (the lower part of Skyline Blvd.)
go past Crystal Springs Reservoir
turn right and stay on 35 Skyline Blvd
turn left after going under 280 and stay on 35 Skyline Blvd
go straight thru 280 (yup, go very, very, very carefully one exit) to Millbrae
Ave
take the Millbrae Ave. Exit on 280
turn right and down on Millbrae Ave.
go straight across (very carefully) 101 to end
go right on Old Bayshore Highway
left on Airport Blvd.
stay on Airport Blvd through sharp right turn and left turn
left on Coyote Point Drive
right on (restricted) bike path
stay on bike path under San Mateo Bridge
stay on bike path until Oracle in Redwood Shores
right on Ralston Ave. and cross (carefully) 101
left on Alameda de las Puegas
left San Carlos Ave.
right on Alameda de las Puegas - go pass Goodwin Ave & 84 Woodside Road
straight on Santa Cruz Ave.
straight on Alpine Road
right on Portola Road
left up Old La Honda (first climb)
cross (very carefully Skyline Blvd)
left (very carefully) and down on 84
left on Pescadero Road
turn right and stay on Pescadero Road to go up Haskins Hill (2nd climb)
Pescadero Road becomes Pescadero Creek Road to Town of Pescadero
right on Stage Road (3rd climb)
right on 84 up to Alice's Restaurant on Skyline (last "major" climb)
cross (very carefully) 35 Skyline and descend on 84 Woodside Road
sharp right at base on 84 to Portola Road
sharp left Mountain Home
sharp right on Manzanita Way
left on Sand Hill Road
left on Whiskey Hill Road
right on 84 Woodside Road down hill pass 280
left on Alameda de las Puegas
left on Fernside Ave.
left on Goodwin Ave.
rinse, repeat.
the end...

See you Sunday...call if lost or late because would like to leave on time Sunday
at 7 a.m.

Collin
