Nort End of Chehalis Western Trail Changes   Message List

Brain Faller, CBC Gov Affairs Chair, prevailed upon DNR to make changes on the C-W to improve user access and ADA compliance.   DNR owns the C-W Trail from Martin Way to Woodard Bay is in the process of permanently opening their gates (giant, chain link and poles strong enough to stop a 2 ton truck), installing bollards, and a few more traffic control signs.  The $1000 CBC donated covered about 1/3 of the cost of  bollards.  DNR has been very cooperative in the project and plans to finish the project in Mid-February.

This end of the C-W is very popular with walkers, runners, skaters and bikers.  The changes are very welcome.

Blaine, CBC Board (please forward this to the Board)

I talked to Brian Poehlein from DNR today---he said that he expected that installation of the signage and new bollards on the north half of the CWT would be completed by the end of February or sooner.   I think we should plan  a commemorative ride in mid-March and invite Welters, Krupp, the Commissioners, DNR brass including Doug Southerland and his managers as well as Brian and his staff, of course Jay, and all of our CBC colleagues and others.

LetĒs put organizing this ride on our agenda for the next meeting.   Our $1,000 paid for a little less than 1/3 of the bollards---Brian was very appreciative!   The Bollards were made by Thurston Cy so should fit perfectly with the lower segment of the trail.  Brian P. is in the process of ordering the traffic signs now---he is using the same signage package that DNR did, so that should be a smooth fit as well.

Brian Faller
CBC GovĒt Affairs Rep.
