The Two County Double Metric Century has had the Twin Oaks rest stop on the 2 long routes hosted in the Potter' front yard for many years. I was able to reach Mr Potter through the Lewis County Wellness check program. A sheriff stopped at Eric's home to say I was worried about them. Eric called to thank us for the concern and that his home is the ONLY 1 on the road without damage. He had water up to the porch steps, his basement flooded and he'll have to replace some insulation under his floor. But he got off the easiest.
Because his home is comparatively well off he'd feel guilty accepting help. He would appreciate it if we did a work party for neighbor's. I told him we'd see who we can gather and get back to him. He agreed to coordinate who's home we'd go to.
So far the volunteers are: Me, Maxine Dunkelman and I'll go so far as to offer up Jim Lazar because this was his suggestion.
What do you say to 1 day next weekend.? Call Blaine Wheeler if you can drive, ride, shovel, rake or bring other tools.
Also - Bill Stevenson agreed that for the New Years Day Ride we can put a collection kettle for $$$ and a box for food donations out at the ride. I think $$ will go directly to the Red Cross (Lewis County first and if there is a good haul then split with Thurston) and food to the Thurston County Food Bank.
Jeff - Could you see if we can drum up interest from the Olympian to cover the New Years day ride? It's about 5 years old now and last year I think we had 38 people show up for a 2 hour ride. The ride is happening this year!
