Re: CB160 oil system, and a second question, the a third....

Thanks guys. Could not believe how hard a little 30 year old sludge
could hold that cap. Once it came off the rest was a breeze. And it
was actually pretty darn clean in there. Very little sludge, no metal
- I was very pleased. The pump was spotless.

This is not a race bike. I want to see if I can make it run down the
road before I get ambitious. I have enough parts to start a race bike
if this works. For now I will be happy with something I can ride in
the Moto-Giro events out east, which number 2 per year at this point.
1st one I saw was last year. It came through town and I followed them
to their midday show the next day. It looked like a lot more fun than
a bigger rally full of much more expensive bikes. So I picked up my
little $100 barn bike and got to work this winter.

Valves are being evaluated, lapped and/or replaced (I found intake
valves and a set of springs). Cylinders will be bored tomorrow, but I
still need to get new jets I guess. I need a lot of education on this
point.

Thanks to all contributors. I'll be back with more questions I'm sure.
Weeble

Bill, The clutch basket primary gears of course conflict with the primary gears when you try to slide it off. To remove the primary gears you have to remove...
