Re: CB160 oil system, and a second question, the a third....

Bill,
The clutch basket primary gears of course conflict with the primary
gears when you try to slide it off. To remove the primary gears you
have to remove the oil filter rotor cover first....remove the
phillipes head screw you saw inside the cover....then take an 8mm
bolt and thread it into the cover through the same hole as the
philipes came out of (that hole is thread to accept an 8mm "puller"
bolt). So now the cover is off....clean out that filter....find the
large nut at the bottom....bend down the locking tab.....use a penny
or piece of aluminum to lock the pimary/clutch gears and remove that
special nut....requires a tricky looking socket available at Honda or
several other locations for a few bucks.
Once that nut is off, tap the rotor a few times...it should loosen up
and come off...then slide the top primary gear off..and the clutch
basket will come off also (remember you have to remove the clutch
basket and oil pump housing at the same time).

More on the other topics a bit later...errands to run.

Bill, Reread my post. To be more clear...an 8mm bolt is threaded into the oil filter rotor cover and as you screw it in, it bottoms and starts to force the...

Thanks guys. Could not believe how hard a little 30 year old sludge could hold that cap. Once it came off the rest was a breeze. And it was actually pretty...
