Thank you to everyone for showing in up Seattle and having such a good time and riding safe. I had a blast and was impressed with all the great people and there nice rides.
I have in the past had just a wonderful time trying to get stock carbs to run. Ghosts gremlins and leaks have been fixed and re-fixed. I have spent the price of a new set of cabs in race fees on several occasions. The problem with new carbs it that there is no good baseline to start from. You buy a new sent of VM22's and spend half of a season getting them to run right if they ever do. The VM22's are cheep and should run great on a 160 with the right jets, needles, slides, and tubes in it?
Don M. you just go a set of VM22's? I know it crossed Mark's mind this weekend. Don if you will bring your bike over I will supply all the Dyno time it takes to figure the jetting out once and for all. Don your bike is a good candidate because it is a .075 160 ( and I believe it LOL) with high pipes that is darn reliable.
Tom is trading with me for an O2 setup all we would need is a set of junk high pipes and we could publish the results for every one to use as a starting point. I went back through the archives of this group and 175 group searching for any e-mail with carb or carburetor in it. I read 1385 emails and have 10 different ways to jet a VM22's that is "the hot ticket" for a stock bike. Main jets ranging from 80's to 125's and 3 different needle set ups. If you are in Don and some one has a set of high pipes that they will donate I can start any time. I am just not happy seeing a good racer like Mark in the pits with a bike that is spitting gas and not having all the fun possible.
If some one has a comprehensive set up (needles, slides, needle tubes, and main jets) pleas let it out. for the VM22 that will work on a stock .075 over 160 with high pipes. Please no bull, guessing, or second hand knowledge replies!
