What is the Voltage at your Battery?

We have a 1973 CL175, it only charges the Battery at 11.8 volts. I have replaced the Rectifier. Before replacing the rectifier the bike would run, but only...

Mike, The regulator would be a good bet at this point. I wouldn't bypass the regulator...good chance it would cook the battery...although these bikes aren't...

Mike, The voltage varied with RPM from about 12.4v at idle to about 14v at running rpm. JohnnyB...

That sounds promising. You'll never get much more than 12.4v at 2000 rpm, that close to idle rpm for the bike. I once saw a charging graph for a 175 in a...

I also found that if I put pressure on the Headlight housing it gets brighter. so I am now on a mission to clean every ground, every connector, etc... _____ ...

You'd be surprised just how many times it's the grounds on old bikes that cause the problem....then again....maybe you wouldn't be surprised :) JohnnyB ... ...
