Because it fits the existing steering head and geometry with no modifications. It has more modern damping design, so it works. It has a pinch style top triple clamp, so it eliminates about 99% of the twisting flex you get in a non pinch clamp style design (like the stock 160 or 175). As a side benefit, it is about 3/4" longer than the stock Vert forks, so it gives you a small increase in ground cleance, which is a major issue on a CB/CL vert framed bike.
