I missed this year, but in the past, I think assigned seating worked well.  There was some confort knowning in advance where I was sitting and also a chance to get to know my table-mates.

   I think the issues of open seating would be:

 

-fans rushing into the area, but then standing around waiting for the wrestlers to take a seat, then a mad rush to grab the chairs next to their favorite.

-Wrestlers and their family friends would have to chase people away from their table if they needed all the chairs.

-people will almost always try to squeeze in one more chair at an already full table, etc.

 

  Maybe I'm just overly worried about the impact to the Talent that us 'non-talent' might cause.
