Operation Set To Ruin Bartlett's World Cup Chances

Shaun Bartlett has had a scan on his long-standing Achilles injury
amid fears that he needs an operation and could miss the World Cup.
Bartlett was named in the provisional South Africa squad for this
summer's showpiece event in Japan and Korea earlier this week.
However, he has so far failed to recover from the injury that he
first picked up during the African Nations Cup.
The club were hoping that the striker was on the road to recovery
until he suffered another setback and, if he needs an operation, he
could be sidelined for as much as four months.
The club are expecting to find out the results of the scan within
the next 24 hours.
