>>>FA Barclaycard Premiership 03/04 :
A hat-trick from Kevin Lisbie concluded an extraordinary match at The
Valley on Sunday as the Addicks beat Liverpool 3-2 to earn their
first win of the season.
As in 2002/03, Charlton saved their winning debut for a live
televised game (against Middlesbrough last season), but the match
will also remembered for the winning strike by the Jamaican
international.
Vladimir Smicer gave the away side a shock lead before a Lisbie
double sent the home side ina at the brak with their noses in front.
Michael Owen then levelled matters from the penalty spot, but Lisbie
had the final word with a dribble that took in half the length of the
pitch before his shot from just outside the area nestled in the
bottom corner of Jerzy Dudek's goal.
With Paolo Di Canio starting on the bench after three matches in ten
days took their toll on the 35-year-old, and Jason Euell suspended,
Shaun Bartlett returned to partner Lisbie. Elsewhere, Chris Perry
replaced Jonathan Fortune at the back after missing Tuesday night's
match against Luton Town under the terms of the loan deal with
Tottenham Hotspur...
However, a draw would have been unkind on the Addicks, and Lisbie in
particular – as Charlton recorded their first home win of the season.
