>The Speculation:
Jason Euell was today seeking talks with Alan Curbishley to sort out
his Charlton future.
The striker was left out of the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa after a
row and is unsure of his position at the club.
Euell, a club record £4.75million signing, is unhappy that
Curbishley did not tell him in person he was dropped and will not
rule out the possibility of a move when the transfer window re-opens
in January.
The pair fell out after Charlton's 2-0 home defeat by Manchester
United last week when the striker was sent off for two bookings.
Curbishley singled Euell out for criticism because of his red card
but the former England Under-21 international thought he was being
treated unfairly. Their disagreement resurfaced in training last
week, with the manager reportedly telling the striker to hand in a
transfer request.
>The Outcome:
Alan Curbishley has again played down the rift with Jason Euell
following the striker's omission from Charlton's 2-1 defeat by Aston
Villa.
The pair were said to have fallen out after Euell was sent off in
the 2-0 home defeat by Manchester United and it was reported that the
player was keen on a move away from The Valley when the January
transfer window opened.
But Curbishley, who initially claimed Euell was left out of the squad
for Villa due to a stomach bug, said:
"The Euell saga had been blown up out of all proportion. I thought we
were singing from the same songsheet.
I was really upset with him after the Manchester United game. I let
him know on the Wednesday that he wasn't playing against Villa. All
this about him not knowing that he wasn't playing is a load of
nonsense.
I told him before speaking to the press. I took my action and he took
it on the chin. I had to do something and I've done it. That's life.
He's suspended for Liverpool and he will come back into contention
after that."
