Charlton chairman Richard Murray has warned Tottenham off any
approach for Alan Curbishley with claims that it would cost them £5m
in compensation.
Media reports have linked Curbishley with the vacant manager's job
at Spurs following the dismissal of Glenn Hoddle.
But Murray has distanced Curbishley from the speculation, claiming
Spurs could not afford the 45-year-old even if he wanted to leave.
"This must be the 22nd time Alan's been linked with this job or that
job," said Murray.
"I just think people must be getting bored with it.
He ain't going nowhere.
I doubt if Spurs can afford him. We have such a contract with Alan
that it would cost Spurs about £5m to get him.
But why should he want to go to Spurs?
"He knows that if he had one bad year he'd be out."
After seeing his side edge past Luton on penalties in the Carling
Cup, Curbishley - who has been in charge since 1991 - stressed he was
content at Charlton.
"I'm happy here, " he told the club's official website.
"I've got two and a half years left on my contract and I'm quite
comfortable with what I'm doing here - I'm not going anywhere.
The fans will tell me when it's time for me to go. There will be some
sort of sign, but I don't see it at the moment."
