>>>Post-Match Premiership Reaction From The Two Team Managers After
The 2-1 Scoreline Between Aston Villa & Charlton Athletic At
Villa Park:

>David O'Leary (Aston Villa Manager):
David O'Leary praised Alpay's attitude after the defender broke his
three-year scoring duck for the club.
Alpay, who is far from the golden boy in Villa supporters' eyyes,
returned to the team because of injuries to Olof Mellberg and Ronny
Johnsen.
The Turkey defender marked his first home league match in 11 months
by making the breakthrough in the 2-1 defeat of Charlton.
Jlloyd Samuel added a sublime second before substitute Kevin Lisbie
scored a consolation goal for the visitors.
Alpay, given a hard time by some supporters, celebrated his goal by
putting his finger to his lips.
O'Leary said:
"It was a good goal by him. There was a bit of booing, which
surprised me a bit.
I don't think that helps anyone. That's life - he seemed to get on
with it. I thought Alpay did well to play today. He's had a cold and
a touch of flu.
He was steady for us. I couldn't fault him, although we did concede a
silly goal. He is always in front of the line at training. He is keen
as mustard, everything is 100 miles an hour.
That's his character, that's his way. They are emotional people (the
Turkish people).

>Alan Curbishley (Charlton Athletic Manager):
Charlton manager Alan Curbishley was angry with referee Chris Foy
after his side's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Curbishley was adamant they should have had a penalty when Shaun
Bartlett was bundled over by Mark Delaney and that Scott Parker's
close range effort should not have been disallowed.
"I find it difficult to bite my lip," said the Charlton boss.
"I can complain and send a tape up (to the Football Association) and
ask them to look at things and give us some sort of feedback.
The major factor is the lack of rapport between managers and
referees. We can't get to them after the game as they are being
assessed by this one and that one. It means only a phone call to talk
about things - at least it would make us feel a bit better."
Radostin Kishishev missed two clear chances and Bartlett was also
wasteful before Villa opened the scoring and Curblishley admitted
Charlton's problems were partly self-inflicted.
He added:
"We missed three open goals in the first 20 minutes. When you
consider the strength of the Premiership, you can't get away with
that. We are continually having to fight back from positions we don't
deserve to be in."
