Everyone turns up for the third round of the FA
Cup with different expectations. Lower league sides
expend blood, sweat and a few tears trying to create an
upset, while their higher placed opposition frequently
wriggles uncomfortably, trying to ensure that they somehow
end up in the draw for the next round. <br> The
formbook goes sailing out of the window, as the need to
take your chances becomes far more important than the
desire to play attractive football. After an
uncomfortable opening half against a determined Blackpool side,
the Addicks are now more aware than ever before of
just how unpredictable a beast cup football can be.
Thankfully, when the draw for the fourth round is made
tomorrow, it will feature the name of Charlton Athletic,
but it was very nearly a different story. <br> Before
the game, much was made of the need for an early
goal, in order to settle a few nerves and calm things
down a little. Blackpool, it was presumed, would come
at the Addicks with all guns firing, looking for
something on the break that they could subsequently defend
