Jorge Costa has admitted he is homesick but the
incredible character shown by Charlton Athletic could
persuade him to extend his stay with The Addicks.<br> The
Portuguese stopper quit FC Porto in order to obtain regular
first team football ahead of the World Cup finals, but
recently admitted his heart was still with his parent
club.<br> A loan switch to The Valley is with a view to a
permanent deal, and Charlton are doing their best to
convince Costa to stay, after some sterling performances
over the festive period.<br>"It never stops here," he
commented.<br>"The game rhythm is fast, always to run, always to
challenge, breaks are almost non-existent.<br>Things are
going very well for the team and this motivates the
players.<br>Charlton is a combative team, typically English. The
players in The Premiership have an enormous capacity to
fight.<br>I was always a combative player, therefore the
adaptation, in professional terms, has passed by without
great problems."<br> The experienced centre back is
determined not to miss out on the 2002 World Cup finals in
Korea and Japan.<br>"I am very homesick for my country,
clearly," he admitted. <br>"I passed some of the festive
period in Portugal but I had to return to London for
Christmas Day.<br>I arrived during the night and had a game
the next day, at noon, against Fulham.<br>Therefore,
I only played the second half. I am not accustomed
to these dates but that's how it is
here.<br>Happily, things are going well, I am in the plans of the
Charlton coach, therefore I wait to be an option for the
national selectors for the next matches.<br>I have an
enormous desire to play in the World
Cup."<br><br>©Planetfootball
