Charlton midfielder John Robinson has admitted
that his crude challenge on Ipswich defender Thomas
Gaardsoe was done to fire up his somnolent team-mates.
<br> Marcus Bent struck twice in the opening 10
minutes for Town leaving The Addicks shell-shocked and
Robinson repsonded with a bone-crunching late tackle on
Gaardsoe.<br>"I was frustrated at being 2-0 down and wanted to
make something happen," declared the Welsh
midfielder.<br>"A tackle like that gets you into trouble but it
gets the crowd up. It was something to rally the
troops.<br>I may have gone over Gaardsoe a little bit but if
he was that injured, he would have stayed down."<br>
A yellow card was shown to the 30-year-old but
Danish defender Gaardsoe believes it should have been
red.<br>"He went into the back of me and the ball was nowhere
near, so yes, he probably should have gone," said the
Town star. <br> Charlton produced a sterling comeback
to steal all three points in a 3-2 win but whether
Robinson's no-nonsense challenge acted as a catalyst is
uncertain.<br> The result lifted Charlton to eighth in The
Premiership and Robinson has his eye set on a European
place.<br>"There is still half the season left and anything is
possible. This time last year, if you had asked anyonbe
whether Ipswich would carry on and get into Europe, they
would have said no. But it is momentum that takes you
there," added the Welshman.<br><br>©Planetfootball
