Charlton have handed 21-year-old central defender
Jon Fortune a new three-and-a-half year contract
following a string of impressive performances this
season.
The youth team product had not made a first-team
appearance for the Addicks before August, but was called
into action on the opening day against Everton and
then scored his first senior goal in the Worthington
Cup clash with Port Vale.
He made his full
Premiership debut in the win at Stamford Bridge a month ago
and performed immaculately over the next five games,
before unluckily losing his starting place for
Saturday's trip to Everton.
The new deal, which will
keep him at The Valley until 2005, was signed in the
run-up to kick-off against Ipswich on New Year's
Day.

©CAFC.co.uk
