Well since the fiasco of ALMOST buying one of two tracks things are now
quit. CAARA will be working with Jerry Frasson down in Florida for the
2nd annual Modified reunion on 2/13/2009. Yes, can you believe it
Friday the 13th!! It is FREE and if you want to bring a car you get
FREE admission to the Richie Evans 100 that night plus a 6 lap hot lap
session. Mine is still wedged in the trailer from the fiasco at Augusta
and since I am a one man show will take some time to fish it out and
get the damage fixed.
Well I am not buying any tracks in the near future. The owner and I are just to
far apart to
even think about it. I am going to work on things for the vintage cars only. The
first event is
in Augusta Ga on September 13 at the site of the old Augusta National raceway. I
HOPE to
get my car back in shape for that.
Next on the list is February 13, 2009 in Florida. That is the Modified reunion
on pavement at
New Smyrna Speedway.
I saw that there are some goings on up in NJ.
Went to Darlington and WILL be there next year for sure. Leatherique is going to
try and help
out with some sponsor money.
Anybody doing anything of interest?

Dear OCS Members, Stolen Car Alert!!! (Do the right thing and forward this to all you know)
Here are the facts: The truck and trailer were taken from the Springhill Suites parking lot, Knoxville, TN sometime between 1130-1145 PM, Sunday, 15 June. Dave Hales and I were parked in parallel adjacent to the right side of the front of the Springhill Suites, I was in front, Dave was parked behind me. When I went out at 0600 AM the following morning, the truck and trailer were gone. The Willys coupe is a 1942 steel coupe painted PPG lemon chrome yellow with a stock frame, stock plated Willys front axle and a Currie rear end. The license plate of the coupe is LOW ET VA (Antique plate), the interior is black, chrome window trim, yellow dash with original speedometer. Also inside the trailer was our EZ-GO golf cart which is painted the same color as the coupe and has white upholstery. A police report is filed, the number of the Knoxville police auto theft division is 865-215-7324.
I am still trying to finish mine, change the gears, digital gages do
not work so going to analog, need new PULL DOWN lap belt, have a PULL
UP and it dumps as soon as you put any pressure on it, not good.
Only thing I know about is what DAARA is doing and the fact that we can
play at Gordon Park OR Modoc any time just show up. $25.00 for pits. I
like Gordon park since it is just a cleaner pit area, less MUD.
Well have a good fourth.
I am at my other house in Aiken S.C. getting some work done on our land. We can DRIVE at Gordon park all I have to do is ask. Probably Modoc is the same deal.

I agree that driving hours to display your car now days is not practical unless we were guarenteed some track time. As much as I'd like to get together and compare notes at the track it just seems a bit of waste of time at ELS for now. Living in Florida doesn't help matters much considering how far you would have to drive to NC. Time to budget for one or two showings a year at best right now on this end.

Any ideas guys? This gas price crunch has put the stops on a LOT of things on my end. $785.00 in fuel down and back to Florida for a car show is a kind of high.

Sumter posted on the 2 wide forum to contact them for a play date. How
is close to them? I gave them my email address but with my luck they
would close also!!
Sounds like fun, need to get my GPS to find those tracks. My dad had a car in the "NON_FORD" division to combat the the fords of the day. Ran a couple of Packard 6 cyl.

They run the flatheads only in NC, SC, and VA. (No Chevy's allowed) but it looks like it would be great fun seeing these old geezers run for the checkers. Oops, sorry Doug!
Best of Luck and let me know if you ever plan to go. I am looking at June 27 in Rougemont, NC north of Durham plus Bowman-Gray Stadium Aug 1. Tonight they're at Orange county in Rougemont, had I'd known I would have tried to make that one. In any case...if you want to see some vintage racing a little closer to home (George) here's a good time.

Not real computer savvy and I know you "told" me about Scott Wagner on 3 wides before but I can't seem to find the site you are telling me about. I'll build ya a car/truck that will do 200 m.p.h. at Daytona, but I'm not real good at finding stuff other than 3 wides and evilbay on the computer. Any help to point me in the correct direction would be GGGGGRRRRRRREEEEEEAAAATTTTTly appreciated! Sorry for the little "pun" there. I worked on the #5 cup car for 8 years until "they" (Hendrick) decided I was too old and made too much money, and gave me an early (Dec. 20th) Christmas present and told me my services were no longer needed. OH well, such is life and now I work on the #51 truck for Kyle Busch. Still in the "Big Time" just not in the Cup side of the B.S.

Scott Wagner has some toys for sure. I was going to sell mine and get a pavement car since I am a pavement brat anyway. May just convert it over. Can run a dirt car on pavement but not a pavement car on dirt!

Subject: [CAARA] OK the FINAL CHANGE
Dates will be:
Gordon Park in Georgia on JUNE 6,2008. Z-8 will be parked by the
restroom, no comments please I have had a CRAPPY day.
Then to East Lincoln on the June 21, 2008.
This is the LAST CHANGE:
Got an offer to play with Gordon Park as a Promoter, Flattered, b BUT
they would lynch me If I did the changes I have in mind for that
track.
1. After the Last race of the regular night TURN OVER THE TRACK.
2. The MORNING of the race day wet the TOP ONLY, the track is banked
and the water will run down.
3. 2 hours BEFORE practice WET THE TOP and SPRINKLE the bottom.
4. Have the cars rune in clockwise to Lay the track down.
5. THEN hot laps.
THE RACES:
Since they want 8 classes then you run them SPLIT.
The main class, be it crate or super run the same 2 heats and a
feature EVERY WEEK.
The support classes called A,B,C,D,E and F for understanding would
work like this.
Night 1 Classes A,C,E run 2 heats and Feature Classes B,D,F run (2)
features ONLY. If the normal feature is 15 laps then you run (2) 10
lap features. SPLIT the purse and pay 50% to the first feature (which
starts by draw) and then INVERT the finish for the second Feature and
pay the other 50%. This will spread the wealth and make for a show
for the fans.
Of course I would get run out of town on a rail for doing this but it
does work.

Just in case anyone is interested it is called EAST Lincoln not just
Lincoln if you are trying to look up info....
I am only about 40 miles from there and will definately be there that
nite. Am going to Fla. Sat the 10th to bring back my "new-old" hauler,
a '78 Chevy ramp truck and am looking at an old modified out of Jersey
that is now in Va. Hopefully if things go right, (they always do,
don't they,?!! HHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!) I'll be there with an old mod on
an old ramp truck. Just like the old days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sending 'er in deep into 3 and thrown' dirt clods into the stands
comn' off 4 for the checkers..............oldmodlover.

Makes no difference to me (at least right now). I don't have a car right now to "go play" anyhow. Plus East Lincoln is only about 40 miles from here so it's not a big deal travel wise to me. Thankx oldmodlover
