CAARA will NOT schedule any races in 2010 since Cape Fear has this thing working
and the last thing we need is to split the ranks of the coupel people who are
into this type of fun. I wll be doing all I can to help Cape Fear become as big
as they want to be.
Mine is parked till Feb 2010 and the 3rd annual Modified Reunion in New Smyrna
Florida a great time. I was THINKING about Zhill in November but just can not
swing the time to do it.
What are you doing? New cars?
Spoke to Butch at 14:17 and will give us as many on track sessions as we want 2
or 3 at least. The more cars the more track time.
So see you Saturday
Pits $25.00
Gates open at 4:30.
I have not been able to reach Butch as of today at 14:00. I HAVE to go since it
is my idea and if it is just some idle time so be it. I am trying to get a
commitment for more than that but will not say we have it if I am not 100% sure.
IF we DO NOT run Gordon Park then I can SWAP weekends going to Florida to look at houses. When I go down to run with DAARA on 10/24 we can not go house looking since the rig is a pain to break down.
We are thinking of selling the OPCC house and getting one up around Amelia.
George,
I've got to run to Shallotte on Friday to pick up the 46 Ford and then off to Rockingham the 11th. By the sounds of it, it looks like Gordon is starting to play along. Send them
the video on youtube to encourage them more. We started out with 2 cars in June and already up to 8 or 9 in October. There's no turning back now.
Doug, would love to have you come up on Oct 17. It's a Saturday. The PT cruiser may be the "new" modifieds once you get done. There's a lot of anxious folks waiting to see it. Good job!
Jim

Thanks, that makes 1 1/2. Mine is SICK. Tightened the carburetor mounting bolts and now it will not idle. Guess there was a intake leak that was allowing the engine to idle.
Also ran out of gas at the cruise in so I put in Premium pump gas and that was what I thought might be the trouble. Well it supposed to be DRY Tuesday so I will try and figure it out. Got to move my boat Wednesday so I will call Butch Tuesday and see what he will or will not give us time to do.

Hammerdown is a Saturday so we can get there. Normal thing, Warm ups and a 20
lap race.
Gordon Park:
What do we want MIN to make it worth the trip?
As of now I am asking for warmups and 10 or 15 laps since the track is almost a
half mile. They say 4/10 but in a passenger car is was ,5 on the odometer when I
looked onto buying the place.
Want to travel? 10/25 Putnam County Speedway in Palatka Florida with DAARA. I
still have not had my car teched by them.
ALSO
What is the deal killer? I will NOT accept NO TRACK TIME from any track and not
warn you. If they want a display then I will tell you and assume I will do it
myself since I am close.
ALSO
This Saturday 10/3 is a DISPLAY at Home Depot on Aiken S.C. if any interest I
will get more info. It is their monthly cruise in fro Aiken Horsepower.
We will be at Gordon Park on 10/10. From the input I have gotten back this is a
better date for all.
The Z8 PLANS to be at:
10/10 Gordon Park in Georgia.
10/16 Hammerdown in N.C.
10/24 Putnam County Speedway in Florida
With the emails I have gotten from the two cars that where coming MAYBE we need
to think about going on 10/10 instead since that is the next time they run at
Gordon Park. Any feedback? I need to call the track and back track the posts.
WE can have as much track time as we want more or less. Butch stated that they
where keeping the track open till midnight so we will have plenty of time to
run.
I hope I am not the only one but just might be.
Weather is 40% chance of rain still had been dry so far.
The post on 3 wide about the use of a PT cruiser for a modified? Would be a neat
project. When the car is built I invited him to come play with us since he will
be using a vintage frame.
That is 9/26, SAME weekend as Darlington. I will go up Sunday, maybe, just to watch. I still can not get the dam oil filter off the car.
I have:
1. BENT or BROKEN 4 normal oil filter wrenches.
2. Had a custom built handle put on the oil filter wrench and BROKE THE welds on the strap.
3. Bought the mother of all channelocks, CRUSHED the side of the filter but STILL no movement.
4. Have a full pound of black powder and will BLAST next!!!

Yes we are getting a lot of people asking about buying a car. get some pictures
and a price an post it on here and I will spreed the word.
Well I made it. The fan belt did not but I did. Made Coffee after about 6 laps
278 deg on the temp WHEN IT WORKED AFTER I shut off the engine.
Putting New Gages in the car and FIXING 3rd gear. Found out from the builder
that is not your dads Saginaw in the car AT ALL with 6:48 I was running about an
8:02 in 2nd. Getting a tell tail tach also.
Car will be up there again in September BUT October looks bad would you believe
an OPERA in Jacksonville Fl. daughter is singing so got to go. You know that
hurts my ears more than the open pipes on the car!!!
See pictures
Sounds like those who went had a good time. I am replacing the ceiling in the
shop then going to get the darn car ready.
What kind of gears ar you running? I STILL have the 7:77 in it. My redline is
9,500 so I think I shuld be fine.
Need some HELP with mine if anybody is near Aiken. Got to so some basics that take more than one person. brakes, gear changes new gauge panel and gauges, mount fire bottle and mirror, lot of just junk work.

Glad your coming Doug, the car count continues to grow. We are at 5 cars with a possible 3 more coming, would ultimately like to get 10 -12 cars. See you there

I'm planning on going.
Went to Lancaster SC last Sat. nite. Track is REAL big and REAL fast!!!!
They run "Vintage" cars there every week. But only have 4-6 cars. I say "Vintage" because they are newly built cars with old bodies on them. Most have BIG motors.

I WAS going to Florida but the trailer said NO so I am still home. I have so much to do on the car and no time to do it. Trying to get to Hammerdown IF we do not go to Florida for a birthday bash for my wife.
