Lets not get carried away. The Bucs are still the worst team in the league.
We were very lucky that the Packers 7th-round-pick rookie missed a simple block, allowing us to block a punt untouched; even then, it was sheer luck that it bounced right to Rhonde Barber. Without that punt block we would've lost and still almost did.
And yes our pass defense was that bad, as you asked in an earlier post. We switched to a bump & run pass coverage this year. Aquib is the only CB good enough to play man-to-man. Rhonde is passable and Elbert Mack is the worst, which is why other teams go after him 1st. We would have done much better to draft Vontae Davis #1, knowing we were switching from zone to this type of D.
But we drafted "the future of the franchise" #1 instead. Well, I will say that he kept his rookie mistakes 2a minimum yesterday. And he threw some nice balls. I really hope the team is right about this kid Freeman & that he becomes a star QB.
