You know, as I look at the upcoming
season, I can't help but believe we're going to be improved. Even
if we had the same talent as last year and caught a break in terms of benching
our QB, cutting our kicker and getting decimated on both lines we'd be
better. I really think this team has a chance to be a lot better
than a lot of people believe they can be this year. With that in
mind, I just went through our schedule and took a swag at how I think this
season may go.
Let me know what you think about it!
:)
-----------------------------------
Sun 9/11 at Minnesota
1:00 pm
Fred Smoot in the secondary won't compensate
for Randy Moss being in Oakland. Personally, I think these guys are
grossly overrated. We're going to pack the box, rush Culpepper and
score some points on this team.
>>>> Tampa Bay 27, Minnesota
17 [ 1 - 0]
Sun 9/18 Buffalo
1:00 pm
Great defense but just pray that the Texans
don't knock J P Losman out on opening day. We eat rookie QBs for
breakfast. The key will be how well we defend Willis McGahee and
the run.
>>>> Tampa Bay 17, Buffalo
10 [ 2 - 0]
Sun 9/25 at Green Bay
1:00 pm
I like Favre in this game.
>>>> Green Bay 28, Tampa Bay
17 [ 2 - 1]
Sun 10/02 Detroit
1:00 pm
Harrington isn't a rookie but he plays
like one at times.
>>>> Tampa Bay 31, Detroit
24 [ 3 - 1]
Sun 10/09 at NY Jets
1:00 pm
I like Pennington at home. Herm Edwards
versus Gruden will be a game to remember though.
>>>> New York 24, Tampa Bay
23 [ 3 - 2]
Sun 10/16 Miami
1:00 pm
This is still a pretty good defense but
I don't believe they can score enough to win.
>>>> Tampa Bay 19, Miami 10
[ 4 - 2]
Sun 10/23 *** BYE ***
Sun 10/30 at San Francisco
4:15 pm
They wouldn't have much of a chance with
Rattay out there and, by this point, Alex Smith should be under center.
:)
>>>> Tampa Bay 41, San Francisco
13 [ 5 - 2]
Sun 11/06 Carolina
1:00 pm
This will be the best team (outside of
New England) we'll play this year. Fantastic defense and excellent
running game. I'm looking at it as a learning experience for our
football team.
>>>> Carolina 31, Tampa Bay
17 [ 5 - 3]
Sun 11/13 Washington
1:00 pm
Gibbs doesn't have what he needs under
center yet so he'll try to run the ball. I still don't think he has
enough to beat us though.
>>>> Tampa Bay 24, Washington
13 [ 6 - 3]
Sun 11/20 at Atlanta
1:00 pm
Look for us to run the ball and limit Vick's
touches this time.
>>>> Tampa Bay 21, Atlanta
17 [ 7 - 3]
Sun 11/27 Chicago
1:00 pm
This one could be tighter than you'd think.
I expect the Bears to get back to playing good defense and running
the ball and it might just be enough to beat us.
>>>> Chicago 17, Tampa Bay
14 [ 7 - 4]
Sun 12/04 at New Orleans
1:00 pm
Until they show me something different
I expect this to be just another uneven inconsistent season in New Orleans.
>>>> Tampa Bay 28, New Orleans
13 [ 8 - 4]
Sun 12/11 at Carolina
1:00 pm
We'll play 'em better than we did earlier
in the year and throw a scare into 'em in the 4th quarter.
>>>> Carolina 27, Tampa Bay
23 [ 8 - 5]
Sat 12/17 at New England
1:30 pm
We'll put on a good show for a national
TV audience but I like Tom Brady to pull it out in the end.
>>>> New England 21, Tampa
Bay 15 [ 8 - 6]
Sat 12/24 Atlanta
1:00 pm
We'll bounce back hard at home.
>>>> Tampa Bay 27, Atlanta
13 [ 9 - 6]
Sun 1/01 New Orleans
1:00 pm
And, we'll close out the schedule competing
for a playoff berth.
>>>> Tampa Bay 35, New Orleans
21 [10 - 6]
-------------------------
I think this team can go 10 - 6 and
compete for a wild-card. Will that be enough to make it? Maybe.
Maybe not, but I believe that we'll be an improved team this season
and that we'll start to earn back some of the respect we've lost the past
two years. ;-> We've been snake-bit a little bit health
wise since '02. You give me a little luck in that area -- younger
guys helps us there -- and I believe we'll be a good football team. The
biggest factor, IMO, though will be how well we can stop the run. In
the first 6 weeks we'll see Willis McGahee, Ahman Green, Kevin Jones, Curtis
Martin and Ronnie Brown; and the last 6 we'll see Cedric Benson, Deuce
McAllister (twice), Stephen Davis, Cory Dillon, and Warrick Dunn (with
Clinton Portis thrown in there in the middle). If we can't stop the
run it's going to be a VERY long season.
GOOOOOOOOOO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!
