Dungy's not a talent guy. He's a guy who can coach up a defense like nobody's business. Rich built this defense and he knows how to do that. That's why he and Tony were a great team. You noticed that, when Tony was fired, Rich tried to bring in Marvin Lewis who is another great defensive guy who was a good choice to coach a Rich McKay built defense. The question is whether Rich can build a great offense. He's got a great talent in Vick, but can he maximize him and surround him with people who'll complement him? We'll see. Yes, Dungy's big on consistency but can he take a team to the top? He's got the league's MVP in Manning. Again, we'll see. I think we tend to downplay what Jon did here though. The facts are he didn't take over Dungy's team in its prime. That team had failed to win a playoff game the two previous years and most thought that its window was closing. Hopefully the lack of due respect for what he accomplished in putting that Lombardi in our trophy case will drive him to do it again and achieve vindication. He's still got a great defensive guy in Monty Kiffen and I think he's the best offensive coach we've had here since Joe Gibbs so, once again, time will tell.

Wow... all of this makes sense though... both Gramatica and King did very well under Dungy's system. I agree that without Gruden, a Super Bowl may not have been won by Tampa Bay, but gadzooks, you have to admit that the Dungy sure gave Gruden some beautiful tools to work with... I'd love to see Dungy get a ring.
Btw, I am new to this board... I'm a Tampa Bay fan living in Boston MA.

Actually, a name I wouldn't be surprised to see in Indianapolis eventually, especially if Denny Green lets him go in Arizona, is Shaun King.
You heard it here first!

Colts bring in Gramatica as kickoff specialist
December 8, 2004
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indianapolis Colts signed Martin Gramatica to be their new kick! off specialist Wednesday.
Gramatica replaces Jason Baker, whose locker was empty Wednesday. The Colts have not yet officially announced how they made room on the roster for Gramatica.
Gramatica spent his entire six-year career with Tampa Bay until the Buccaneers cut him Nov. 30. He was chosen as the NFC's Pro Bowl kicker in 2000 and had been one of the NFL's strongest kickers, having made 78.8 percent of his field goal attempts before this year and 15 field goals from longer than 50 yards.
This year, Gramatica struggled. He made just 11 of 19 attempts and had not made a field goal longer than 22 yards since Oct. 10.
But the Colts, who already have the NFL's most accurate kicker in Mike Vanderjagt, don't need Gramatica to place- kick. After working out for the Colts on Tuesday, Gramatica said he could be kicking off Sunday against Houston.
``It's going to be different,'' Gramatica ! said. ``I think I'm going to kick off Sunday, but I don't know for sure yet.''
