RE: [Bucs] Messy, sloppy, penalty-filled first half...

I agree with most of what you said, but...

I don't see how McCardell allows us to attack deep zones.  He's not a speed guy, he's a possesion guy (like everyone but Galloway and possibly Lee).  Clayton has, IMO, proven to be solid, and Brown and Lee are nice complements.  With no true deep threats, its hard to attack deep.  But, even if we had deep threats, the 7 step drops are turning into 7 step sacks.  We looked good against one of the toughest defenses in this years league, and, so, the "unusual" isn't completely out of reach.

Anyway, the bottom line is 0-4 pretty much eliminates any ideas

of making the playoffs unless something unusual happens.   With

that said though I’m still going to hold out hope for the unusu-

al until we’re eliminated.  Pittman upgrades our offense and we

just have to keep on plugging away.  Our big weakness is our in-

ability to attack the deep zones.  Without Galloway, Jurevicius

or McCardell that offense is limited.  I must say though that I

was encouraged by the defense I saw, especially in that 3rd quar-

ter.  I thought we played better in that quarter that we had at

any point over the 2nd half of last season with Lynch and Warren

Sapp in there

One thing I noted was the drive we were getting going and they called pass interference on Clayton.  He was blocked into the man, how is that interference?  That negated a great gain, and made it harder to get the first.  Seems like even when we get going things go wrong.

Score is close at 13-10 by halftime.  Neither team is too
impressive.  The Broncs aren't running as good as they usually
do...maybe teams have figured out their run plays or something...
Bucs still have problems with consistent offense, other than that
wacky Clayton TD catch there hasn't been anything stand-out.

Yeah I couldn't believe they called that a penalty against Clayton. (That hurt us. Maybe Payback for the flukey TD.. They said it had to do with the longer...

Clayton's a player. He's already an upgrade from Keyshawn simply because he wants to be a Buccaneer. I agree that bright days are ahead for this defense....

I would agree on McCardell not being a burner or anything but from the slot he has the ability to exploit zones that are 15 to 20 yards downfield. He made a...
