Wow, no way I can match that, I am thrilled, I am going to have to quit racing
to train her :) and she has so much room to improve, specially on the bike..

Hey guys. For those of you that don't already know, I have started a triathlon club at the high school that I teach at (A. Lincoln HS in Coney Island), and although we have a pool, and we have a track, we don't exactly know what to do about these kids bikes. They definitely don't have the money to buy them, so I thought if anyone out there has any old road or tri bikes (or mountain bikes for that matter) that they no longer ride, we could use, and would LOVE any donations! I would be able to give you guys an official thank you letter from Lincoln that you could use for a tax write-off, and you would be helping to keep the sport going! These kids are the next generation of our sport!
Please let me know if you can help, or if you may know anyone who can.
Thank you,
H

i have an old Schwinn road bike, although it needs a new derailleur and chain. i used it to commute around on and should work well. can anyone help with the parts? it has a 6-speed cassette, so something compatiable would be needed. you're awesome for doing this! i am hoping to start a swim team at my school next year...

I'll ask the residents in my building. They have about 50 bikes in the bike room and many with year's of dust. Also, you should call the local precinct, they can get you in touch with whoever keeps the thousands of bikes they find or confiscate throughout the year. Citytri will add a similar request on an email newsletter in the future asking the same if you want. I'm sure we can get a lot of bikes....

I ran last year. The start was overcrowded. There weren't even close to enough bathrooms. I've never seen such a spectacle of peeing etc. in the woods near the reservoir. The course through Times Square was very nice. I liked the rain on the West Side Highway. The food and towels at the end were really bad. It was red white and blue popsicles and towels that looked like toilet paper. The baggage at the end completely hidden and difficult to find. On top of that, they had 1000 bags per truck and it seemed as if some of the trucks had no system to find bags, so each bag was taking 30 minutes to find.
Overall, definitely do it. It will probably be better this year.
Remember there is a lottery this year, so there's no guarantee of getting in. It seems that there is some criteria for guaranteed entry. I got an email guaranteeing my entry. But it wasn't clear what the criteria for guaranteed entry is. Phil, you probably qualify for guaranteed entry by time.
registration for the NYC half marathon begins in the

| From: Brooklyn Committee of Transportation Alternatives
| Sent: Monday, March 26, 2007 5:11 PM
| Subject: Thursday: Support proposed 9th Street bike lanes in Park Slope!
|
|
| Dear Brooklynites,
|
| This Thursday, March 29, the DOT is presenting a plan to
| Brooklyn Community Board 6 for new bike lanes on 9th Street
| in Park Slope. Please attend to show your support for the
| proposed lanes, and bring your cycling friends, neighbors
| and family members too!
|
| The meeting will be:
| Thursday, March 29, 6:30pm
| Old First Reformed Church
| 729 Carroll Street (corner of 7th Avenue)
|
| You can see the full agenda at:
| http://www.brooklyn cb6.org/calendar /#29
|
| The 9th Street bike lanes are planned to run between
| Prospect Park West and 3rd Avenue and are part of the City's
| Bicycle Master Plan (you can see the dotted
| "planned/proposed route" marking on the City's bike map).
| They'll make a nice connection between Prospect Park and the
| 3rd and 5th Avenue bike lanes.
|
| I hope you can go to Thursday's meeting and speak out in
| support of these lanes.
|
| Community Board insiders are already hearing opposition from
| drivers (they don't want to lose their double parking privileges!) .
|
| These are pretty standard bike lanes but even a little NIMBY
| resistance could turn off the DOT, so please come out and
| support the bike lanes and tell your friends and fellow
| cyclists to come out too!
|
| If you can't make the meeting, you can contact the Community
| Board and express your support for the proposed 9th Street
| bike lanes. The board can be contacted at:
|
| Craig R. Hammerman, District Manager
| Community Board 6
| 250 Baltic Street
| Brooklyn, New York 11201-6401
| T: (718) 643-3027
| F: (718) 624-8410
| E: Info@BrooklynCB6. org
How do the club standings look? I do hope my 80th place effort helped out.

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS, & THANKS to everyone from the club who participated and helped out. We received emails from lots of participants saying that they really enjoyed the race and will be back for more. We loved the sense of competition that existed between the clubs and hope to make it even more enjoyable as the event grows. We also loved that there were many participants from out of state, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We also hope to find ways to use the events to further promote and benefit the club. Although it may seem like we're doing things by the seat of our pants we feel that we're very close to being able to put on a first rate event. We look forward to seeing you out there swimming, biking and running.

Congratulations of everyone that completed the Prospect Park duathlon.
Brooklyn Tri is now in hot pursuit of maintaining rights to the Gotham Club! Lots of great performances by BTC members - the top finisher, coming off of a victory in the Jack Rabbit Indoor Tri circuit, David Gardiner Garcia had another podium performance! !!
Thank you George and Ale!! It was a great event. Looking forward to the next one on Mother¢s Day!!
