$250!!
That's absurd!
I bet they don't refund the money to the injured athletes either.

Reminder: The Red Hook Smackdown is tonight at 7 PM at the Red Hook
Track. We'll begin by warming up for about 15 minutes and then move
into heats for the 100 and 200. We will finish with food and drink at
a fine local establishment.

There is still a chance to sign up! Email me by 4PM if you are
interested.

It looks like it might rain heavily tonight, in which case we will
postpone till next Tuesday, same time, same place. I will email
participants at 4PM to let everyone know if the game is afoot.

Hopefully I'll see you tonight!

Hi All!

I've talked to a few people about renting a house for Mightyman
Montauk, but I thought I'd send this out to the whole club just in
case it sways someone's decision about attending.

I can secure a three bedroom /2 bath house that sleeps 6-8 people for
three nights (Fri, Sat, Sun). It's got a hot tub and is guaranteed
bear free! (Okay, I made that last bit up, but I don't think they have
bears on Long Island.) Check it out:

http://www.vacationrentals.com/vacation-rentals/5843.html

The total cost is $875 - so breakdown is about $145/each if we have 6
and closer to $110/each if we have 8.

Remember, there's a sprint on Saturday, so if you'd prefer to do that
instead of the half, you'd have a place to stay on Friday night. And
did I mention the hot tub? Now that's how to end the season!

If you're in, drop me a line at laura.lebleu@....

today i was thinking about going to wave hill in the bronx.  would anyone want to plan a saturday morning bike ride up there to see the garden?  its a beautiful garden that used to be a private estate in riverdale.  http://www.wavehill.org/home/   the garden is open year round.

admission is $4, but on saturdays from 9 am to noon, its free!  im proposing a ride up, spend some time in the garden, possibly picnic brunch since this will be a long morning and long ride, and then riding back.  if there are enough people, we can coordinate carrying the picnic food and have a little feast.

id like to plan a ride up there on saturday, sept 9, as long as the weather is good.  from the cycling map and bridge info on transporation altervatives, it appears that one could get to the bronx via either the henry hudson parkway bridge or the broadway bridge.  im not sure which way would be better to go, since ive never biked in the bronx.  but the garden is not far from either of those bridges.  you can see where wave hill is if you go to google maps and look for 657 west 252nd street, bronx.

i would love as much company as possible.  please let me know if there is any interest.

There are a bazillion houses for rent out in Montauk - we could
probably find one for about $750 for the weekend (Fri-Sun). If I could
get a committment from 5-6 people, I'd be happy to take care of the
details.

If you're interested, email me offline and let me know!

Down south, otherwise I'd be all for it.

Short notice, but anyone interested in trying an off-road tri on

I've learned that doing a race all by yourself sucks, especially one as
grueling as an off-road tri. Let me know if you're up for a serious
challenge.

That would make five of us. I think it qualifies as a posse.

I've considered it, and would do it we could get a small posse together.  It
would be my first halfiron distance event...no point in pushing it off any
longer...

So, who's capping off the season with the Mightyman Montauk Half?

Now that I've got one 70.3 under my belt (race report on Timberman to
come!), I figure I'll try to fit one more in before I succumb to
off-season inertia. This one makes the most sense, but I want to see
who else I'd be suffering alongside before I register.

it's true, the citytri website has the prospect park duathlon on September 17.  i know there was confusion about this the other week, and then i didn't correct it in the race report

sorry for the mistake!

I believe that the prospect park duathlon is on the 17th of September, not the 10th, for those that are interested.
Thanks
