In your official capacity as club reps I wonder if you could please send out an email to your membership encouraging them to partake on JUNE 28th in the Hope & Possibility 5-miler in Central Park.
I know better than most there are all sorts of charities trying to get people to sign up for all kinds of odd causes, but the Achilles hits home because it is us, and they are ours. It is the wing of our local running community that looks after the runners who have disabilities (some recent, some as a birth right).
It will be a great race, we have raffles, food, the Governor coming to run etc, Nick Goose is the starter for all the free kids races, your race bib is worth a 25% discount at Urban Athletics on non sale items.... but more than all this. Well put it this way, there is a girl who in her own words would be in an institution and bed rest24hrs per day if it was not for the Achilles. On the day she was brought by the club to a practice she could not walk from one lamppost to another. Today she has completed over twenty marathons, travels around the world for sporting competitions, and was fencing for the USA at the paraOlympics....

The 150 FREE per year disabled programs that the Achilles puts on for its local chapter alone, are supported by this race.
All the best, and THANKS!
