Unfortunately, I don't think posting on Feb. 28 was very useful for getting
people to come to the race the very next day, especially as it was in faraway
Washington Heights.
BRRC had a dismal showing at Coogan's: We didn't have a legal women's team (3
showed up), and we had 6 men, who finished in 20th place, our worst showing in
many years.
For the Scotland Run, on April 11, please enter the race soon, as it is a capped
race. The Colon Challenge filled up 3 weeks ahead of time, and that wasn't a
team race, so if you snooze, you'll lose the chance to run this race.
I stepped down as men's team captain as of January of this year after 11 years'
of doing it; the position remains unfilled, and anyone who wants to volunteer
for it is free to do so. If you want to discuss what it entails, Steve Bonal's
phone number is 917-238-9447, and mine is 718-469-0589.
I've enjoyed doing it, and it has really kept me in touch with virtually all
active BRRCers, as they can attest. (I probably barely escaped arrest for
harassment and stalking!) However, I'm now back running my other volunteer
organization, the union at my workplace, and doing both is too much.
I will continue to run all the team races and talk them up at the group runs, so
the next captain will have a very active informal assistant.
