All,
I have been having a good deal of fun riding one an I thought I would
see if any folks out there had
any or were interested in building/getting one and having some SS MTB
fun. When I 1st thought about the SS
movement I thought it was a bit on the fringe. I can recall one day
about 12 years ago I was out riding
in the local trails in NJ and I ran across one of the "Soul Riders"
that I had met. These riders
were infinitely better than I knew I was ever going to be. They were
fast, had "mad crazy" skills, being
able to Bunny hop logs 1/2 feet in diameter without effort. These guys
didn't do anything competitve.
they just did the MTB thing cause it was in their soul... So, like I
was saying, I ran into one of these
guys and he was on a SS bike He said that he wanted something different
etc.... Well at the time I still thought
this was madness.
Earlier in the year, I got one of the kits to convert my old mtb into a
SS. It was only $20 for the kit and
took about an hour to do the conversion. That 1st ride was interesting
and it took some time to get used
to the shifting reflex. After a while I found that climbing and
spinning in that one gear to be challenging and
fun. My brother built one earlier in the year and he says it's making
him more fluid and faster...
So, who's up for some single speed fun? If we can get a couple of
folks to do this it would be great.

I may even build up a road bike from some scrap parts, anyone up for
that too?
