Maybe your thumhole is too tight that's why your fnger thumb is sticking.
Used sand paper make it little big the hole atleast 1mm clearance to your thumb finger, so it's easy to release the ball.

was doing incorrectly. However, I still find that my thumb frequently
pops out of the ball. Also, I've had a few incidents where my thumb
never leaves the ball until my follow through is up around my chest.

I feel like my timing is both late and early. It feels late because it
seems like I slide just before the ball should release. It feels early
because hitting up is a symptom of an early release.

Anyone have any suggestions?

hi rob,

oftentimes, the late release of the thumb is caused by
two things. one is the size of the thumb hole. it
shouldn't be too tight or too loose. it should feel
like the hole is hugging your thumb, but not choking
it. second, try to loosen up your swing. make sure
your ball travels with one smooth swing and no jerky
movements.

hope that helps!

I started bowling 6 years ago

I decided that I wanted to become an excellent bowler short after.

I have asked a lot of questions of different bowlers. That I thought
of as excellent bowlers. to gain as much knowladge about the sport
as I could in a short of a period of time.

here are a few of the bits of advice I have gotten and Credits to
the people that have given them to me.

1. Mike Papero 2000 - Hamilton NJ (202 avg.) When you take your back
swing brush the inside of your arm on your hip to keep your arm
swing stright.

2. Mike Papero 2000 - (202 Avg.) Hamilton NJ Point through your
target with your index finger and you'll never miss your target

3. Bobby Little 2000 - (212 Avg) Trenton NJ (he was 18 AT THE TIME
OF THIS AND HAD ALREADY HAD 3 300) when the lanes are breakingdown
turn your wrist to the right to take some of the hook out of the
ball.

4. Harry Pasquito - (209 avg) 2001 Bordentown NJ When leaving ten
pins bring your pinky in to touch your ring finger and spread your
index fingr all the way out

5. Hall of Famer Don Cosma - parts unknown to protect the innocent
(220 avg year after year after year and the most respected man in
bowling in South Jersey "cause he's a people if you love him. If you
hate him well than it sucks for you) Get the ball out on these lanes
or you'll never carry

6. Don again (the next week same house) Lay that ball down early or
you'll never carry here

7. Don on ten pins - Move back three inches and left a half board.
(after 3 ten pins in a row i took his advice and had the next 14
strikes in a row against him. Shot 799 that night promting him to
say he should keep his mouth shut.

8. Don "Gee they got it all wrong too... He's not a fruit he's a
Vegatable." Cosma. Have Babe drill your ball!!!

9. Ron Papp (245 avg ) "I did have to ask him" I tuck my pinky under
to get my Thumb out of the ball earlier.

10. Tony Christoffi curtosy of Cheech Maron, Take all the change in
your right pocket and put it in your left pocket take your wallet
and switch pockets Now you'll stop missing ten pins.

The house was asked about if the data was still available in computer
and the answer was no. The house has checked all thier files again
and cannot locate the printed sheet with scores. Looks like the rest
of the pre-bowl scores will be moved up one week and the last week of
the season a blind scofre will be used.

think the bowlers who played the previous weeks or months the score
automatialy save in the computer. You can request to the counter

It's normal to the ball when you keep it on the warm place you can find there's a lot of oil from inside the ball. The ball is absorbing the oil from the lane while you're playing the bowling. Do not put into the sun light, the ball will damage or broken.
In my experience I use very hot water to remove the oil inside my ball. What you have to do is fill the very hot water in the bucket with your ball , you can see the oil coming out from the ball. Use liquid soap to clean the the ball if the water is already cold.Use foam with liquid soap and rub the ball. Don't worry nothing happen with your ball. Onyl used masking tape or any water proof tape to cover the hole of the thumb and finger insert, so the glue of your insert it will never damage by hot water.

Have a nice bowl.

I like the big hook and lately my Morich was not hooking well and I
thought it was because in all my leagues the lanes are oiled just
prior to the practice shots.

Last Friday night I took the ball after league and put it in my car
with its carrying bag in the floor of the passenger seat so no
direct sunlight would get to it. I always clean the ball prior to
every shot with a towel which I change weekly or so when it gets too
dirty. I also clean with alcohol and a towel (soak a small part of
the towel with alcohol and wipe the ball thoroughly) after every
league so I know its not dirty but it still soaks up oil as I
witnessed on Sunday and Monday.

Saturday the ball didn't sweat although I didn't use the car at all
because it was cloudy all day. However on Sunday afternoon I did
find it extremely sweaty with oil (couldn't hold it - had to use the
bag to lift it) and I cleaned it with alcohol and a towel. Same
story on Monday afternoon although not as much oil sweat.

The temperature here never exceeds 88 and the change is very
gradual. Also I checked that it didn't get too hot inside the car
that's why I picked the weekend to do this to constantly monitor the
temp inside the car.

I'd like to suggest that everyone with a hook that notices a
decrease in the hooking try something like this before investing in
a new ball (especially before buying a new ball- if it doesn't work
you were going to buy a new ball anyhow!).

My ball has at least 8 months and I play about 15 games a week all
in recently oiled lanes.

It's important to only do this when a big decrease in hook is
evident so as to not damage the ball beyond repair, unless you're
buying a new ball anyhow.

Good bowling to all!

I went to womens state bowling in Grand Island on Friday March 30th. We bowled on the 31st and on April 1st. I only have a 132 on my member card. My average is a bit higher than that this year. I really didn't bowl very impressively. I bowled team on Saturday. I bowled above my average every game, but never blew it out of the water like I wanted to. These games were on wood lanes. On Sunday we bowled on synthetic lanes. I thought to myself, "No problem, you bowl on synthetic at home. Piece of cake." Yeah right! I struggled so badly with pocket shots leaving ten pins and being unable to pick the ten pins up that my doubles games were PATHETIC to say the very least. I rolled a 122 a 96  and a 161 for an embarrassing 329 series. We moved to the set of lanes over one for our singles matches and like on Saturday, I did just average. I rolled a 129, a 176 and a 157 for a 462 series. I can do better. I did better during team on Saturday. I just couldn't pick my spares up worth a hooty doo! Well, we have city tournaments coming up this weekend and we are rolling all 9 games in one day. I guess I will just have to really concentrate this time and stay calm. I will try and get caught up on my e-mails, but if needed I may have to mass delete them and try to catch up with y'all later.     Lysa

decrease in the hooking try something like this before investing in
a new ball (especially before buying a new ball- if it doesn't work
you were going to buy a new ball anyhow!).

My ball has at least 8 months and I play about 15 games a week all
in recently oiled lanes.

It's important to only do this when a big decrease in hook is
evident so as to not damage the ball beyond repair, unless you're
buying a new ball anyhow.

Good bowling to all!

Saludos,
tito from always balmy Puerto Rico

Shot a 225 212 217 for a 654. Only had one open a 4-7-10 on what
looked to be a pocket hit but the ball seemed to die as soon as it hit
the pocket. We took 6 of 8 points. So we are not entirely out of the
hunt for 1st place with 6 weeks to go..

Today didn't go that well,

First game I shoot 205 The next pair we go to is totally different from the first pair and I cant keep the ball off the nose and shoot 166. I back that up with a pair of 222 games and I can make a run for the last spot as I was 10 pins out going into the last game. I post a whopping 158 game. On this pair the approaches were sticking. The game prior one of the players stuck and ended up sprawled out on the floor. I even changed to a #10 sole and was sticking. I had to walk so slow to the foul line, which in turn caused me to slow down my armswing down and I couldn't generate enough ball speed to get through the heads.

I ended up with 2679 pins for 13 games (206.07 Average) for the weekend.

All in all it was a good weekend. Just shaking the rust off feels good. Looks like my next PBA Regional will be in May at Warner Robins, GA if they decide not to cancel it.

Thanks for all the support folks

After taking 5 months off from PBA Regional Tournaments I decided to bowl the PBA Sr Regional at Little River SC this weekend
I Have Qualified 11th  at +106.   I gave back 35 pins the last game as I split in frames 1 8, 9 and 10
We bowl 5 more games tomorrow and then go to match play.  Hopefully I can pick up a few pins and get to 8th to qualify for match play.
