Living in Florida there are a lot of seniors. There are also a lot
of senior tournament groups. We have the Florida Senior Bowlers (FSB)
in the West Palm area, the West Coast Seniors in the Tampa-St Pete
area and the Senior Bowlers of America (SBA) in central Florida plus
some other smaller groups. THe schedules do not overlap so you can
bowl every weekend if you want. My favorite is the SBA because they
have no limitations on membership and admit pros. For example last
weekend, the entries included Dave Soutar(PBA-ABC hall of fame), Pete
Couture (5 PBA title, last 2 Sr Masters), Bob Handley (5 PBA titles),
Steve Neff (4 PBA titles) and a number of lesser PBA members. Other
name PBA members who were not in this tournament but who have competed
in the orginization include Dave Davis, Dale Eagle, Bo Burton and others.
Last weekend the tournament was in Zephyr Hills (outside of Tampa)
and the scores were high. Steve Neff led qualifing with a 247
average. I was third with a 244 avg. The top 8 were cut for Sundays
head to head matches and the cut to 5 for a step ladder roll off. The
scores were lower on Sunday (I think there was a little less oil on
the lanes) and the field averaged in the high 220's to low 230's. I
won 7 of 8 matches to get top seed for the roll off and then won that
game for my 6th title.
