Gary,
The AMF machines that you are refering to are probably the 82-70 series
machines. Those machines are very inpressive and the interesting thing is that
there is one component that tells the machine wat to do. The chassis is what
controls the function of the Machine. they type of Chassis that the machine has
would be the Mp. Chassis which has the short cycle where on a strike the table
which is what spots the pins does not have to come down to check for Standing
Pins.

Subject: [BowlingTips101] Wednesday night's scores...
Hi all,
Well, the first night of the league I was asked to join in was pretty fun; it's
a men's handicap 5 man team league. I went a bit early to practice and found the
lanes running like crazy! It's an AMF house with REAL wood approaches (the way
God intended!) and, I guess, AMF synthetic lane surfaces. They seemed much
different than the Brunswick surface. I will say there seemed to be less oil
drag down. The league lanes were much better.
I had pretty good scores, a 217, 207 and a 192. I will say the last game I had 3
opens, two stone seven pins which I whiffed (I was pissed!) and a stone 7-9
which I still don't understand how I got, the ball was rock solid and had a nice
angle. Since I come in at last years average, 191 (remember, I just started
bowling again) averaging 205 is pretty nice :~)
I used the Blue Dot last night. I could throw out over ten and swing out to as
far as 4 if I threw it correctly. Remember, the blue dot is about the hardest
ball there is! I left 6 stone seven pins, I'm talking rock solid. I did make an
adjustment which seemed to stop this; I kept the same "line" but moved to the
left about 1/2 board. The ball finished higher or more flush, just like I like!
Our team is a mix-bag of nationalities which is kinda nice...all different
colors, which, is a first for me in all my past bowling. We all got along just
fine and I fit in and was asked to continue on the team. I said sure I would.
The team Captain does have a bit of a temper problem but everyone else seemed to
be just fine. I was concerned about traffic as I have to drive through
Providence, RI at 5:00 or so, but at least last night it was fine, I was there
from my shop in Seekonk, MA in about 20 minutes.
One nice facet about the AMF machines installed there is that in practice if you
through the ball and it doesn't clean up the pins (first frame) if you trip the
foul line, the rack clears immediately and sets up a new rack. Another thing
that I noticed is that during league play, the guy in front of me got a strike
and it set a rack up right away; like the machine knew there was no reason to
wait while a potential pin falls from a messenger, etc. Very interesting.
It should be an interesting season in the league.
Gary
