No Aces were recorded at TNT so the Acepot, which had grown to $104 for the eight golfers, will rollover. The club receives $50 and the Acepot will start at $54 next Tuesday. There were no Personal Bests, but Ken Lemkelde was lucky enough to score himself a case of his favorite soft drink (Diet Dr. Pepper) with his CTP on hole #4.

Hope to see some new faces this Sunday for some tournament preparations on the Quake. Like I mentioned in a previous post, we will finish up the new pin positions for #13 & #14......AND/OR......begin tackling #16, #17 and the hill on #11 with weedwhackers, loppers, pruners, and lawnmowers. Once again, I'll provide assorted liquid refreshments. Please make an effort to give a couple volunteer hours at least. Do it for your club, do it for your course, do it for your park, for the tournament, for the community, do it for discgolfers everywhere who may be playing your home course any day of the week. The most dedicated of the Fighting Llamas put in an average of over 100 hours of volunteer time each year just maintaining the QC. This doesn't even include the time they put in on other local courses. How many hours have you given back this year? Is it really asking too much for some of you who only come out to play the courses to volunteer just a few hours prior to each tournament? I know not everyone can be as well-rounded as OD - holding down a full time job, a wife, household chores, kids - all in addition to what he does for discgolf at both Pinchot and Creekside,.......but maybe y'all could try it for a weekend or two each year - REALLY. Sorry for the guilt trip, I don't want to offend, but I know Clay doesn't have the Interweb and won't be reading this. : 0

Next weekend we should spray the wasp nest on the walking path between #3 and #4
so that we don't get a bunch of people stung during the tournament.

Some incredible things were done today on the QC. Six of the most dedicated
Llamas came out to volunteer for a day in order to get the course in tournament
shape for Llamapalooza '09. I just hope that those of you who enjoy playing the
course remember to at least thank those who do maintain it for all to enjoy.
They do this volunteer maintenance many times without even throwing a disc the
whole day!
The park's management and maintenace staff, while great at working with the
club as best it can within it's own time and budgetary constraints, are not able
to put the time in to maintain the course as well as it needs to be for people
to enjoy playing it and to want to return again. Therefore, almost all of the
course maintenance falls on the club's shoulders. Without clubmembers like the
ones who were out on the course today and last Sunday, as well as countless
other days, the course would have been completely overgrown before it was even
completed. Instead, the Quake looks continually better and better.
While grooming #13 & #14 these past two Sundays, we've managed to scout out and
to clear fairways for alternate pin positions for both. #13 is about the same
distance but is now an anhyzer with a sharp fade rather than an anhyzer all the
way to the pin. #14 is a doozy. A good drive for the current pin could give
you a good look downhill into the cedars through a more than generous gap to a
comfy little grass-covered green where the pin will be further protected by a
couple guardian cedars. While a deuce won't be out of the question, a three
should prove to be a real accomplishment. I'm guessing that once again, the
distance will remain about the same.
Huge props to the regulars today: Jeff R., Bob E., George G., Lynn B. and Jason
M.
There are only two (2) Sundays left before Llamapalooza! Next Sunday the
volunteers may still be working on #14. If not there, then we'll be found on
#16 & #17. Anyone wishing to help out can join in anytime. There are some easy
tasks that require more walking than anything strenuous. : )
(tentative) Tournament Layout:
Front: 1,2B,3A,4B,5A,6B,7B,8A,9B = par 32
Back: 10B,11,12,13B,14B,15B,16B,17,18 = par 32
Thanks for the info Lynn. I see if i can make the sundays but tuesdays are a
little early for me. I hope to see you guys around sometime and pick up some
tips.

disc golf this summer. I am really into it but have only played 4 rounds. I'd

Redlands course is nice. I can't wait to play the entire round. They told last week that twelve through eighteen just arrived that day. I told them that this is great to see a local school to have a. Ourse of their own. I was also informed that I was the first person to end up on the schools roof.LoL . No joke, earl and I were out and on the way to the car we were still trying to outdrive each other. That was when my second throw went rouge. But their course will be complete soon.

Played over at Red Land for the first time yesterday. Fun course to go and just heave. Anyway, lost an Orange Surge on hole 4, being stupid and trying to cut corner. If anyone finds it I would love having it back. Thanks!

The Bearclaws Disc Golf Association will host Do it for the Dam VI, Saturday,
August 22 at the Francis E. Walter Dam Disc Golf Course in Lake Harmony, Pa.
This event will be a fundraiser to be used for the installation of cement tee
boxes at FEW. For those who played the Summer Soltstice in June, you know full
well that all the rain leading up to the event left many of the crushed stone
tee boxes flooded and soft, providing poor footing in some areas.
This event will help secure some funding for the purchase of the cement. Since
the Bearclaws do not receive any financial support from the state, county, or
FEW's Army Corp of Engineers, we will have to pay for the entire project. We
are fortunate to have some handy individuals among our group and we will do all
the installation ourselves.
As of this posting, the tee boxes for holes one and two have already been
competed and we will be doing another this weekend. We are hoping to have all
the work done before winter.
Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and play will begin at 10:00
a.m. We will play two rounds of singles.
Cost is as follows:
$20 Pro
$15 Advanced
$15 Intermediate
Men's and women's divisions will be offered
Payout will be 60% to field and 40% to the tee box fund.
You can find the event flyer on the first thread at the following link:

Anyone unable to attend but wishes to make a small donation can contact Mike

I received the Innova tournament package today and the stamp, albeit simple. looks good. I can't wait to get some feedback on them. I plan on keeping them hidden until the event! We also have a traveler basket to raffle, or whatever we choose to do with it. I'm excited about 'palooza '09 already!
