A rainy start for the 'warm-up' round gave way to some sunshine as
the #1 Llama made his way to the course. Scott put the coveted tag
on the line and promptly relinquished it to the Llama's newest
addition to the Pro ranks. Owen Hileman only managed a 52, but it
was enough to fend off all comers so he could dangle the golden tag
from his rearview.
The big news of the night was that we finally had to payout the
Acepot. Lynn Baker made good use of his forehand shot by scoring
a "1" on hole #7 and earning him a cool $68 to shower his fellow
Llamas with beverages down at The Lake! Lynn has amassed five career
aces now - congratulations Lynn!
The backup acepot will be out next week to start us off at $50 once
again.
Owen Hileman #6 52 #1
Paul Wojcik #22 52 #6
Craig Beam #14 54 #9
Lynn Baker #25 54 #12
Clay "lights out" Roth #9 55 #14
Scott Ward #1 58 #15
Chas Ford #12 59 #17
Mike Lordan #15 61 #22
Glenn Pickering #23 62 #23
Chris "Cadillac" Williams #17 63 #25
Gerald Ford #35 63 #35
John Wojcik #36 77 #36
Good luck to all those participating in Ironman VII this Sunday and
thanks, on behalf of the MS Society, for all your donations.
FYI, the BWCC made a $100 donation again this year in an effort to
help surpass the $1,000 mark.
I'll try to get there a little early as well, but I'm not sure I can
be there at 4:00. Start on hole #15 or #17 and I'll catch up to you
when you come back across the road on #4 or #5.
Lynn

They are selling on EBay in Champion, stamped for the So Cal Tourney. They are supposed to be doing a run in Star that I heard of. But here is a interesting review on DG Course Review site, http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696.
I am trying to get my hands on one of the Champion, just got to try it out. I also heard they are going to release the Star Max in Champion plastic.
Thanks for the research. Any word on the plastic(s)?

Careful with that axe, Eugene.
From Dave Dunipace of Innova on the PDGA DISCussion Board:

Sounds to me just like the Discraft Force, which was the most
inconsistent disc I've ever seen. I bought 6 of them earlier this
year, of which the heavier ones were flippy long distance drivers and
the lighter ones were useless overstable meathooks that start hyzering
HARD left practically 20 feet after leaving my hand.

Keep an eye out for the new bad boy in town. The "Boss" is suppose to
be a little less stable than the Destroyer with similar glide only
FASTER!
If I ever get out to play again, I hope to have a bag full of these!
Due to an injury that occurred during the Whispering Falls tournament a couple weeks ago, Course Mom Tammy will not be participating in the 2008 Iron Man event. This injury was severe enough that she did not attend the beer festival to raise funds for MS. Sorry for the loss this year (OD, that leaves you alone to win the highest fundraiser this year)
I will be working football games again, Tammy is out (100 holes is too much according to the physical therapist), and in turn Coach will not be there, either, as we are down to one vehicle. Good luck to all who do attend.
Peace and good tossin', Crawdaddy

I've had the same thought many times since i moved back to the area 2
years ago. I work out there in the winter as a ski patrol and have had
some contact with the general manager at various ski patrol events. I
could run the idea by him sometime, but I already know what he is going
to say. How much money could it make? All the summer activities
generate revenue and I know they are looking to add more stuff in the
coming years. Who would want to pay there when QC is 3 minutes away.
Thats not to say I wouldn't like to see a course out there. #18 could
tee off at the top of Minuteman to a basket at the bottom;-)

Every time I drive out to Pinchot and I see Roundtop, especially when
I come out for the Ice Bowl and the white slopes stick out, I think
what a great opportunity it would be for a course there. I just
figured you guys probably had your hands full with Quaker's Challenge.
But maybe next spring the club could look into a course at Roundtop
for Summer 2009?

I dont think any of us are going to "sell" them on the idea. I do
think that if Seven Springs is successful though, they would consider
it. Would be a relatively cheap way for them to make some extra $$$
on the mountain during the off-season. Maybe they could even hire
world class course designer F. Paul Wojcik to design the course?

I contacted Ski Roundtop two years ago and they would not even cough
up $400 to sponsor a basket. I think they would have a more
difficult time attracting players when Pinchot is just ten minutes
down the road. But it would really be cool to launch a drive from

Seven Springs has a completely different market. They draw tons of
people from Pittsburgh and they have sold hundreds of condos at the
top of the mountain. Plus they have a hotel, restaurants, conference
center, golf course and many shops.
Ski Roundtop does not have any homes for sale, plus they are in a dry
township. They do have a lot of outdoor activities in the summer, so
maybe it would be worth a try.

Maybe the thing to do is to ask them if we could hold a non-

show them how it would work and about how many people it would be
able to draw. Just an idea.

Sorry Jeff, but I assumed that the info on their website was
accurate. I guess the current greens fees will be reduced.
If they only charge $8 - $12 they will see lots of traffic on the
course. Thanks for the update.

Lynn,
I tried to clearly indicate what was going on with Seven Springs
previously, but perhaps my communication skills were lacking.
This is not the "new course" at Seven Springs. The information which
you found on the website refers to the lame 9-hole pitch-n-putt course
which plays around the base at Seven Springs Mountain Resort and has
been there for some time now.
However, world class course designer J. Gary Dropcho designed a
lift-served championship 18-hole course which is opening later this
month (perhaps as early as this weekend)
Here's the skinny from J. Gary:
"You ought to also play the new Championship 18 hole course to
open at Seven Springs this Fall. It's a par 64 layout with Red, white
and Blue tees, front nine plays down the mountain after a $4 lift, and
the back nine plays down the mountain after another $4...or pay $12
and play all day. Some beautiful downhill, some water, some par fives
across the hill, open, tight, elevated greens and tees."
Regards,
-Jeff

If it is Jack Dimpsey, his digits7175790421. I haven't seen him in about a month or so, so I don't know anything 'bout it. Good luck if it is though.

Sounds like fun.
Jeff...I heard that someone in your group at Creekside is trying to get a disc golf course at Shank Park in Hershey. I think his name is Jack Dempsey. This is the same course that got turned down two years ago because of the dog park group.
If he is involved in a proposal, I would be interested in helping another effort. Do you have a contact number for him?
