We enjoyed some more nice Spring weather on Tuesday and also the
addition of our 37th clubmember for 2008, Owen Hileman, who promptly
earned the #2 tag with a 53.
Congrats Owen. You are now entered into our end of the year Tag
Finale, are eligible to receive the BWCC clubmembers' $2 discount on
every disc purchase for 2008, a $5 discount on your PDGA membership
through the Affiliate Club Program AND have your voice be heard and
duly considered for all matters pertaining to the BWCC and the Quaker's
Challenge course.
Hope we see you again soon! ; )

No aces were thrown and the pot grew from $68 to $75 for next Tuesday.
A little birdie told me that Mr. Beam will be out Sunday. There are
still a good number of Llama and Boulder Bash V t-shirts left if anyone
is interested. Lynn Baker is holding, so you'll need to get with him.
A week of rest is in order, but then its back to coursework since the
weeds wait for nobody. Weedwhacking, stumpcutting, etc........
CU @ Creekside tomorrow.
Please note that there were not enough 'propagators' (which are PDGA
members with ratings of 800 or above) to give online ratings to those
who played Boulder Woods. They will get ratings for these rounds after
the next ratings update however.
Looks like Scratch Scoring Average (SSA) was 63.9 in round one and
64.3 in round two for Quaker's Challenge. Congratulations Llamas!
You've made for one of the highest SSA courses in the state and
narrowly missing out on the top 10 in the nation.
A full list of highest SSA courses in the U.S. can be viewed on a
thread I made last year on the PDGA DISCussion Board here:
http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=659610&an=0&page=1#Post65\

Regarding SSA vs. par, SSA typically always comes in a few strokes
below par. This makes sense, since by definition SSA is what gold
1000-rated golfers shoot and pro par is usually set for blue 950-rated
golfers.
However the Quaker's Challenge course graded out with par and SSA
coming out to about the same - 64. This is not unheard of. One of the
reasons for this is that there are few 'tweener' holes on the course.
The par 3s are also not easy deuce holes. But the primary reason is
that 5s and 6s happen all too often on the pro par four holes.
As the course matures and opens up, I think you'll see SSA gradually
creep lower with par remaining the same and resulting in a
distribution similarly to what has been observed at other world class
high SSA courses. I think SSA will eventually be 61 or even 60 with
par at 64 for blue 950-rated golfers.

Jeff LaGrassa

Statistically speaking, there were not enough propogators to
extrapolate the round ratings for Boulder Woods. This will be done
once the final TD report is processed by the PDGA. Propogators are
players with well established player ratings that form a baseline, so
to speak, for the rest of the player's ratings to be calculated from.
If you're really interested, check out the round ratings from Boulder
Bash IV last year. Simply check the rating for a round the same as
what you shot and it should be very close seeing as how the weather was
nice for both events.
Was wondering if the ratings were completed and/or
posted for those of us that played at BW?
Thanks,
Lee

Jeff Ramer is pictured instead of Robin Billig on the homepage. Jeff
won Advanced Masters, Robin won Pro Masters and we didn't get a picture
of him. If anyone has a photo of Mr. Billig, we can surely get it up
on the homepage. He deserves it. Otherwise, change Pro Master to
Advanced Master under Jeff Ramer's photo. Thanks.
There were 90 names on the signup sheets and that was used to

The change was made due to the amount of people who signed up to play
Am1 and Open/Pro Divisions. If I remember what Paul said "If we have
more than 45 in Am1 and Open/Pro we are going to play two rounds at the
Quake" also it was stated before the event that if we have more than
90 poeple sign up we will likely play two rounds on the Quake in those
divisions.
Correct me if I am wrong, anybody, I know that I stated in the
interview that I thought we had over 90 and I was mistaken. Just a
little excited about the huge turnout for the event.
Earl
I was told that we were over 90 and the plan was over 90. If there
was only 87, I just wondered why the change in plan....Personally I
would have prefered a round at each, but it is what it is.
Still had a blast - thanks again

I have a question -
On the results page, it shows 87 golfers.
I thought we played both rounds at QC because there was over 90
golfers...
Am I mistaken on this?
Why did we play both rounds at QC if there were less than 90?
Just curious - loved QC and had a blast, just wondering why we didn't
get to enjoy both courses.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST.....a HUGE Thanks to Paul "TD" Wojcik for the
blood, sweat and beers it took to make the Quake a reality.
Without his dedication and perseverance over the past three years, we
would still be clearing the first nine fairways. Although there were
many others involved in all aspects of creating the course...no one
has been more instrumental in keeping progress moving forward.
Rumor has it that the mound of dirt on the left side of the #7
fairway is really Paul's bunker...since he has virtually lived at the
course the past two years.
We could not have had a better grand opening for the Quake with a
record turnout and perfect weather.
I'm proud to a member of the llama herd.
As a final note...I still have a few Boulder Bash V Tick t-shirts in
my inventory (mostly X-Large)if anyone would like to buy one.

Congratulations also go out to Lynn Baker and John Ditmore who were the
only two players (other than J.) to improve their scores in round two
on QC! Lynn shaved 11 strokes and John lowered his score by 5 to
almost make it into the $$$$! These guys must have a good training
regimen that provides them with the stamina to improve on such a
physically grueling course as QC.
As for J., we all know him to be a remarkable specimen, but he shaved
four strokes off his P.B. on that layout in round one and then
proceeded to carve out a little more history by posting an astonishing
61 in round two! Outstanding performance by a legitimate Grandmaster!
