Hope to see a good turnout tonight for tags. If there is, a nice CTP
will be offered up for someone to earn.
A pivotal meeting is scheduled for the Silver Lake afterwards where
our 2008 tournament schedule will be tentatively hammered out as well
as some preliminary decisions regarding the 2008 tag season. Please
come prepared with any concerns, ideas and wishes for dates, times and
formats.
We were going to try to start at 5:15 beginning with this Tuesday, but
with short to no prior notice, we will start once again at 5:30 but go
out in twosomes. Next Tuesday Tags will start at 5:15pm.

Craig.. Just thought you might fine the following story interesting. ... It was a hot beautiful day and I was paddling my faithful red kayak on the waters of Pinchot Park. There was a very light wind and the lake was smooth. As I rounded Boulder Point I came apon two guys in a small boat fishing. They yelled to me "Hey Captain" and I rowed over to them and the astonishing story begins. They related to me that the other day while they were baiting their hooks they both heard this loud singing, humming noise from high in the sky. The one old fellow told me that something bright yellow flew by at a blinding speed but he was not sure what it was. Well I didn't pay too much attention just another fish tale I thought to myself. As I made landfall on the Harrisburg side of the lake and was tying up to the dock, I looked around and was startled by squalking birds high in the pine tree. As I stood looking up the large bird pulled his head back and pushed out a large yellow disc from his nest. It dropped about 35 feet to the ground. I ran over and to see what it was and guess what.....It was your Iron Man Golf Disc from across the Lake.
Oh well I guess I had you going for awhile.. I did find your golf disc and if you want it back I will leave it at the place where you start from by the bulletin board.
Now you know why I named by sailboat " Bullship"
Not sure if he already left it by the bulletin board, but if anyone sees it, PLEASE return!!!

I and hopefully some others will be continuing to work on the course.
I plan on playing in the afternoon and working in the morning when it
is cooler. If anyone sees Elsteveo or knows his number please let me
know or tell him to get in touch with me. I've been trying to get a
hold of him for a couple weeks now to no avail.
Saturday is my wife's birthday, but I have been given a free pass to
play until noon that day. That being said, I am planning on getting in
a round on the new course on Saturday morning. Hopefully teeing off
not long after 8 o'clock. If anyone wants to come and join me I will
be bringing the 12 tag with me. Thanks!
James
Nice shoot'n Bob, Mark and "Little Flicker" Daniel.
Sorry I could not make it out...especially when the #1 and #2 tags
make a midweek apperance.

Waydago fellas! Nice shooting.
Mark and Bob are gaining much consistency and Daniel is simply
lighting the course up with his flick drive and quick absorption of
the techniques of the elder Llamas.
Some folks have been intimidated by the new course across the lake,
but it is becoming ever more apparent that Quaker's Challenge is
RIGHT ON TIME!
Many local players, like Daniel, will apply and see their disc
skills grow right along with the new course as both mature in the
coming years.

Thanks, Lynn!
My work "forces" me to be in Carlisle every other Thursday. Tomorrow
is one of those "unfortunate" days. Further, I'm "stuck" with free
time between photography stops. Wish I could cram those snippets of
free time into a full round! "Sadly", tomorrow is supposed to be
another nice day plus my last client of the day is interested in
learning DG.
Life is heck, so you play DG...
Joe <-will also be taking Rt.74 to get from Carlisle to York - might
be another side trip, south of Rossville, in the works! :)

This article was in the sunday newspaper. There is a group of people
working on a disc golf course in Carlisle, but it's now on hold
because of a local dog park group. This is exactly why we could not
get approved for a course in Hershey. They had already turned down
the "dog poop park" and could not turn around an approve a disc golf
course. These people need to get off their fat butts and actually
walk their dogs and they can go to any public park.
Shaffer Park is located at the intersection of Route 34 north out of
Carlisle and Calvalry Road, just north of the PA Turnpike. The
entrance is across from street where Sterrets Gap Drive veers off to
the left. I drove through there yesterday and it looks like they
have made some progress clearing some fairways. It will be a
partially wooded course, but they have several acres of open fields.
Anyway read on...
Dog owners, disc golf groups seek compromise on Shaffer Park
BY T.W. BURGER / Of Our Cumberland County Bureau, 09/15/07 5:09 PM EDT
UPDATED: 09/15/07 11:01 PM EDT
CARLISLE l Two groups competing for space at a public park will sit
down with borough officials and work out a compromise.
On Thursday night, the Carlisle Area Dog Park Association agreed to
meet with members of the Carlisle Disc Golf Association and the
borough's parks and recreation department staff and figure out a way
for both groups to use the 14-acre Shaffer Park.
The borough owns the park, which is in North Middleton Twp.
ADVERTISEMENT Story Continues Below The dog association has been
working for months to find a place for at least one leash-free dog
park for the Carlisle area. The group gathered about 1,000 signatures
on a petition. The only other fenced-in park in the area is in Lower
Allen Twp.
Last month, the borough's park and recreation advisory board gave the
disc golf group permission to use the park for its sport, which has a
resemblance to golf, with metal baskets in place of holes and flying
discs instead of clubs and balls.
With about 50 supporters in the room, Gail Black, one of the dog
group founders, told the council her group was prepared to talk about
sharing space.
"If they're having a tournament and need all the parking spaces,
we'll even come down and help them park cars," she said.
The disc golf group has already put about 300 volunteer hours getting
Shaffer Park ready for its sport, member Christopher Toone said.
Member Jarrett Hannan said the group is "sort of stuck" because there
are sponsors willing to give money to support their disc golf park,
but won't write checks until there is a more solid agreement with the
borough.
"Shaffer Park is our only option in the area," said Charlie McGuire,
the disc golf association's president.

Ah, the coveted jump from Intermediate to advanced.
It's a big jump. In intermediate you're (mostly) playing with a more casual group honing thier growing skills.
With advanced, you're dealing with the player who just moved up, and also those who should move up.
NOTE: the PDGA is proposing to split the current advanced division, and eliminate the Recreational division.
The current advanced division (if the proposal goes through) will remain, but for those Elite Advanced players....we call them baggers, there will be a new Expert division before the heralded Open division.
Did i mention they want to eliminate D-tier tourneys as well?
How can we prereg? I don't see an online link, so I guess we have to
somehow find you?

Yesterday a group of regular volunteers met up on hole #3 to carve a
bit more out of the fairway. Great progress was made.
A dubs round followed with a rare sighting of the wandering Beam.
The group huddled quietly in the foliage as the mysterious creature
strode by us - implements of destruction hanging all about him. We
followed at a distance determined by a strange mix of curiosity and
fear. What we saw was amazing. The creature was blazing a new trail
through some of the most ungodly thorns and brambles that mountain has
to offer. The wildman of the woods began his terrorful trail at the #8
green and slashed and hacked through to the #9 teepad. We were almost
spotted before scrambling to our escape vehicles and fleeing the
mountain.
On second thought, I played glow tonight and I might not get out there
until the afternoon!

How much and what time will you be out tomorrow. I think it may rain?
Going rain or shine?
I'd like to get a new driver, that would be killer. Still need to
get that 15 to get my tag too.
Dave
I have a very limited number of first run, star-stamped Star
Destroyers available. Let me know if you are interested. First come,
first serve.
I've thrown one a few times and for me, they fly a mile straight, then
fade hard at the end, but the one I'm throwing is nowhere near broke
in. It is very comparable to the Wraith, but faster.

For the first time in what seems like months, I will be out for tags
Saturday morning. I will be presenting participants (if numbers are
adequate) with a shiny new plastic CTP, and a shot at the #2 tag.

The scores will be posted on the PDGA sites late this week or early
next week, according to a rep who answered my emailed question.
A couple of players at Calvert asked when they might go up.
