I have one brand new DISCatcher Traveler Portable Disc Golf Basket
that is not spoken for if you are interested. They are lighter and
catch a disc better than the skillshot, but get what you want. Don't
let me talk you into anything!
my email is lgninja(at)epix.net if interested.
By the way, it'll save you about $25 too!

Actually, we have won big time. That many acres to sculpt as you
wish in Central PA, prolly at least worth 400,000 smackers. Getting
the park to help maintain once we get it to a steady state,
excellent. Yes there is a lot of sweat equity in it ... but we are
getting one hell of a deal. And then the shed. Probably the best
yet, as everyone was starting to get really comfortable with Boulder
Woods, and the opportunity to be humbled all over again with the need
to refine and add skill to your game.

Yes, although it would be nice for a person's labors to be returned
equally, the world runs on money and power. The park has more power,
and that's what is important. If you really wanted to name it
yourself, you'd have to buy and lease your own piece of land, and
maintain it all (and not charge greens fees?). I hope this doesn't
sound harsh, but Bob's right.

You can't win all the battles. I do thank Paul for taking charge to
produce a championship caliber course. The park has decided to help
promote disc golf at Pinchot and is willing to help with some upkeep
of the fairways. It will be promoted in the park's brochures and
maps as an advanced caliber course to be called Quaker's Challenge.
The park will be installing a sign at the entrance calling it
Quaker's Challenge. Don't confuse the public and future players with
a name game. I'm proud of the new course and being part of its
construction. The name it has been given will become great, too.
Many great disc golfers will seek out this new course called
Quaker's Challenge. (Even the not so great.)
My 2 cents.

I think I agree. The daylight time is getting shorter. Satuday afternoon would
be a good time to play 2nd round tags at Quaker's Challenge to help break in the
new fairways. All 18 can be played for a new set of stats.

Although the foot traffic would be good for the new course, I think
I agree with Jeff.
We would not be able to use the scores in the tag stats if we only
play 9-10 holes on the new course. Plus the days are starting to
get shorter and the time in the evening is going to be limited.

Starting tomorrow at 1pm the second tag round of the day will be held
at the new course - holes TBD. Meet at the water tower.
The morning round at 10am will still be played on the Boulder Woods
course.
Of course anyone can play the Boulder Woods course whenever they
desire, but we're encouraging all clubmembers to take advantage of
these group times. This should help everyone to learn the twists and
turns a bit quicker as well as help to break in the fairways.
It should take 2-2.75 hours to play 18 holes with some time for
searching figured in. Second round should finish up by 4pm.
Tuesday, it is being proposed that we play 9 or 10 holes on the new
course. I think 1-10 or 10-18 (9 holes) would be good from the parking
lot at the bottom of the hill. 3-12 (10 holes) or 7-10,18,1-6 (11
holes) from the water tower. Let's hear

Recently, my work decided that they were going to change my schedule
(of course, without asking me). So, it means that I won't be able to
make it to anymore tuesdays, and only a few Saturdays.
But, I do have Thursdays off now, so maybe I'll see some of you at
Creekside, neh?
Definitely make it a point to attend Conrad Weiser. It is one of the
prettiest parks I've ever played in. There are many unique picturesque
holes. The Chief Shekalemy hole; the elevated tee that shoots over the
pond hole, the challenging field holes. There are plenty of holes that
could have you carding a 2 or a 5. It's a great time with a very low
entry fee and yes, 9/8/07 is the only day this year you get to play
it, so come on out. It's right off 422 just past Womelsdorf between
Myerstown and Reading.

I plan on going out for a round or 3 (casual or for tags.. #2 up for
grabs) at Pinchot Friday. I'll likely be there about 9:30 - ??? and
if it's not raining heavy, I would like to go over to the other side
and do some additional clearing on #10. If you are interested in
either, let me know (576-3162).
I am really disappointed that the state Parks Dept. with the name selected by those of us that have spent the time, energy, better(or worse) half(for those that are hitched) that we are neglecting them at home, or otherwise neglecting some other part of our lives to help build FORESGOOD WOODS. So I say that amonst those in the know and anyone trying to help promote the course we speak of Foresgood in every way possible. If we happen to be speaking to a park official, maybe mention Quakers Challenge, but always keep Paul's choice for what amounts to his dream & taking charge to produce a championship caliber course, in the name chosen by a majority
rule at an "official" tag club meeting, in our hearts and minds when talking about it to anybody else or in trying to promote an event. Just my 'piece of mind'. Up the Irons!!!

Gifford Pinchot State Park has designated the new disc golf course at Pichot to be called Quaker's Challenge. I believe as this new course is talked about the name should be mentioned at the same time. There are several new courses popping up in central PA. Quaker's Challenge will distinguish which new course we are talking about.
With that said, I will be at Quaker's Challenge all day Friday trimming fairways, etc. If anyone can join me call 554-4458 or meet me at the course. I might take a hard look at the entrance to #1 tee box from the parking lot. A very visible entrance path will help players find where to start. Ultimately, a well placed sign will be beneficial.
Sorry I missed tags...I was out of town Saturday - Tuesday.

Pinchot Lake to be lowered for dam repairs

Boat and fishing enthusiasts will encounter lower levels of water on
Pinchot Lake in Gifford Pinchot State Park starting after Labor Day
for repairs to be made to the stilling basin below the dam.
The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced
in a news release today that the lake drawdown is necessary to
prevent water from going over the dam and into the work area in the
basin.
The lower water level could affect some launch areas for larger
boats, especially the ones on the Rossville end of the lake, said
William Rosevear, park manager. The amount of the drawdown depends on
various factors.
This could include the amount of water evaporation if temperatures
are high or the amount of rainfall, especially if a number of
hurricanes move through the area this fall, he said about the project
which is to be completed by Veterans Day.
"We'll make the impact on the public as little as possible and get
the job done," said Rosevear. However the contracted work will have
the highest priority.
The contractor will have heavy equipment below the dam to remove
rocks in the area to make the basin deeper as well as take out a
concrete slab farther down the spillway at an old ford, he said.
People who are disabled and need accommodations to participate in
park activities may contact the state park at 717-432-5011 or through
the relay service at 800-654-5984 (TDD). For information, visit the
Pennsylvania homepage at www.state.pa.us or the DCNR at
www.dcnr.state.pa.us.
Nice shoot'n Clay...way to step up and snag the #1 tag.

....don't ask.
Saturday September 8th is the day. This tournament has been held
annually for over a quarter century at the historical Conrad Weiser
park. A temporary course is set up and boy is it fun and challenging!
Definitely worth attending if you can get away that day. Bring your
big arm, your roller, and lunch. : )
I wasn't offended, I just want you to know I for one don't have a
compatible schedule right now is all. ^_^ I can't even make Saturday
tags (bums me out every Saturday) cause I always end up at work till 2.

I'll be out Friday Bob. As well as Tuesday before tags if anyone can
make it. Hole #10 still needs a little trimming.
The signage is on its way. The park will be clearing/mowing a large
area below the #1 tee near the parking lot for a bulletin board, L&F,
etc.
