Although I certainly appreciate the idea, battling 25 degree weather
snow, winds, a creek, etc. I don't know that it is necessarily an
appropriate forum. Don't let me sway anyone, I'm just offering an
opinion.
I think in the spring when college kids are home, and rec players are
coming out of hibernation is probably the best time. It also
provides a great opportunity to offer some impromptu instruction to
the novice player. For that matter, we could possibly do this the
first weekend of every month when the weather is nice and make them
weekend long events. (Saturday at Creekside and Sunday at BW).
Keep in mind that not only does this allow us to swap some plastic,
but also for that new player to realize that just because Innova says
a Star Wraith flies further than any disc on the planet, an old beat-
up DX Cheetah may be the one for them.

Saturday at the Creekside Ice Bowl? I am hoping to see a bunch of

I like the way this sounds too, publicizing the swap meets at the courses...... gets more people involved in the swapping, not to mention the opportunity to get more recreational players involved with the club members of different clubs and do what we all love to do... promote disc golf.

Probably the best time to hold one would be early spring when
new/recreational players are starting to come back out of
hibernation. A few well placed signs around the course could bring
out some new players. It would be a good way to sell off some
inventory (both personal and club) and a great opportunity to educate
people on the "goings-on" of Pinchot.

Maybe like a swamp meet slash Tourney(1 round) slash Clinic(for newbies or
people who been playing playing but could use some advice like me) some
where bewtween the icebowl/boulder bash to help inform people and have fun.

We coud have food, and prizes and perhaps sell some tags?

Just another thought

Sounds like a plan. Maybe the first swap meet could be when we have
about 20 man hours left across the lake to make a full 18 playable. 20
guys can work for an hour each, and we'll have a short break, a quick
lunch, some pictures, a swap meet and by that time our arms could
possibly be recovered enough to have an inaugural tag match!
It's sure to be a beautiful day!

BWCC now has a wildfire, inferno, raging inferno and aviar driver
as "community discs".
Whenever I am around I will have these with me and everyone is free to
try them out. This has so far been met with a positive response.
With this in mind, along with all the chatter about out of production
discs and "where can I find this or that", and general disc flight
conversations I have had, I'd like to propose some type of swap meet.

We all have discs that we no longer throw, have thrown for a round or
two and hated, or won in tournaments and will never throw. Why not get
these outcasts together on any given day and trade, sell or give them
away? If nothing else, it will provide an opportunity for folks to
throw something they've never thrown before, try discs in different
weights and plastics, and maybe make a buck or 3.

Tags or any other club event would create the perfect forum for such an
event.

If this is an idea worth pursuing, let me know and we'll make it happen!

Kudos to you sir on your continued efforts to promote the sport of Disc Golf. I would ask that you post info to this message board as I and others may not check the PinchotDiscGolf board. I will try to help where and when I can.

I am pleased to announce that the PA Keystone State Games has decided
to include Disc Golf sport into their summer sports competition for
the 2007 games for ages 12 and up. They have appointed me as the
Director of Disc Golf Sports and selected the Recreational Course at
Pinchot State Park for the first annual tournament. The various
levels of competition for multiple age groups will be scheduled for
the dates July 24 thru 26, 2007.

The event is an excellent opportunity to promote the sport of Disc
Golf in PA and surrounding eligible states. Your assistance will help
make this inaugural event a success. This event has the potential of
encouraging players to develop their skills and advance to more
challenging courses and membership in the PDGA.

If you would like to support this project with your time and labor,
please contact me directly at Don@PinchotDiscGolf .com.

Developing details and full information are and will be posted at:
the www.PinchotDiscGolf .com website.

Let's work together to help promote this sport for all ages!

the 2007 games for ages 12 and up.

If you would like to support this project with your time and labor,
please contact me directly at Don@....

Developing details and full information are and will be posted at:
the www.PinchotDiscGolf.com website.

Let's work together to help promote this sport for all ages!

Since my WFL season is over (I won't make it out on Thursday), I wanted
to take this opportunity to thank Beam, Paul and everyone else who made
the WFL happen. It proved to be a nice break from tags and a chance to
improve our individual game given the formats we had to choose from.
This is the best club in the state, and I'm glad to be a part of it.
Here's to 2007!

Thanks to Janelle Foltz for the baked goods she made and sent up with
the Donniellama. Those muffins were the BOMB. The two-bite brownies
went down well also. :)
Thanks also to those volunteers that virtually waved a magic wand
and made a fairway appear where there were only thorns and brush.
George Ginter, Jeff Manatt, Steve Charron, Matt Hamilton, Gerry Ford,
Glenn Pickering, Craig Beam, Brian Gannon and myself basically
knocked out hole #18 today. The basket should be in place for next
weekend. We've yet to roll the bench into place, but the hole is
playable and is said to be FUN.

With a little clearing on hole #10 around the basket, the
installation of the #11 basket, and the final push to complete the
monster known as #3, we will soon have two-thirds of the fairways
done.
There is still, of course, much work to be done as far as tee signs
and teepads and short pins go, not to mention the perpetual grooming
of the fairways and pathways. But, having eighteen baskets in the
ground and eighteen playable fairways is not too far off. The last
six holes will not require as much effort as has been needed for the
front nine.

Hopefully we'll enjoy another good turnout next weekend along with
some balmy weather like we had today. The plan will be to attack
#3.

Paul, as far as I know I will be able to play at states so count me
in. What is the arrangements as far as getting there and where we
will sleep. Are there any camp grounds near by that you know of or
are people planning on getting hotel rooms. My vote is for
camping..I'm cheap. Anyway, let me know what's up. I think Phil
wants to play too but i don't want to answer for him. Later

I posted this yesterday, but it seems to have somehow disappeared?

Five golfers came out to enjoy the late round snowstorm on Thursday.
The format was "One-Disc". Ken Kuduk and myself tied for the best round
and each earned the treasured "bonus point".

Ken Kuduk - 2(5)
Craig Beam - 2(16)
Lynn Baker - 1(23)
Jay Williams - 1(16)
Bob Eberly - 1(12)

Some details were ironed out at last nights pivotal club meeting...

  • Tags have been ordered. They are metal this year. Tags 1-3 will be gold, Tags 4-10 will be silver, Tags 11-55 will be bronze. We are also getting 5 blank tags to be used as replacements. Anyone who loses their tag will have to pay a fee for a replacement.
  • The final WFL match will be Thursday, Feb 22nd (the last Thursday before Ice Bowl). The WFL prize drawing will be held at intermission of the Ice Bowl. The number of points you have at the conclusion of the WFL season will be the number of entries you get into the drawing. Prizes will be "Gift Certificates" to the club and can be spent on anything in stock or next years tags if you wish. If you win the 1st or 2nd place prize, you may also special order bigger items such as a bag or portable basket. Prizes will be as follows (1) First Place = $100, (1) Second Place = $50, (5) Third Place = $15.
  • The second round of the Ice Bowl will also be the first *OFFICIAL* tag round.

Plenty of time remaining to get out there and earn some more WFL points!!!
