Hi ladies,

Please post where we will be meeting if already decided. I really
enjoyed my first run last week on the Charles.

Thanks,

Hello,
I wanted to thank everyone who came out last night for an evening of interval training. I hope you all had as much fun as I did!  It seemed as if many people exceeded their expectations and ran a lot faster than they thought they could.

Our second speed work session will take place in two weeks, on Wednesday, August 8, at 6:30. Location TBD, but it probably will take place at Harvard's track.

During the session last night, we learned about interval training and then had the opportunity to try out what we learned. I am not sure what our coach, Greg, has planned for the next one, but I encourage you to attend even if you were unable to come to the first session.

If you were there last night, you already know how fun it is, and so you probably don't need any encouraging!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Michelle

Hey Maggie,

Sorry for so many emails. I just got in from soccer and was worried I would be sore and out of shape not having played in a year; unfortunately, that wasn't the problem. I am just walking in the door and have several nasty blisters on the top of my toes from my cleats and think I need to let them heal. I am going to play it on the safe side and not going to run tomorrow. Im sorry to bail out. Hopefully I will see you next Wednesday.

Hi Maggie,

7 miles sounds good to me. I hope I will be able to keep up =) I am not quite sure where to park near there. Any suggestions? And where exactly should I meet you? Do you want to aim for 8:00?  I dont have any other plans tomorrow so I am pretty flexible if you want to go earlier or later.

Hi Maggie,

I have not run the Rock and Roll but hear its a great time. I went and watched the first year  I moved there and was just amazed with how many people were there and how l! ively the atmopshere was. I ran the Shamrock Half Marathon in 1:55 but didnt do too many long runs before hand to train although I was happy with that time. I am aiming for something similar for this run. I plan on playing soccer tomorrow night and havent played in a year, so I am hoping I will not pull every muscle and my body and be able to run Thursday or Friday morning. Where do you normally run? What is your normal pace? Want to aim for Thursday morning around 9ish? Also, any idea how far you'd like to run?

Hi Everyone,

I am new and have never run with the Luna Chix. I am a teacher in Virginia Beach and training for the ! Rock-N- Roll Marathon and I am home visiting friends and family for two weeks in Waltham. I ran a half mar! athon a year ago but am having trouble getting motivated to do a few long runs for this one and would love to run with a group. My pace for a long run 3+ miles is probably somewhere between an 8:10-8:50 minute mile. If any of you plan on getting together in a small group this week to run, other than the Wednesday night run, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks so much =)

Also, just wanted to suggest that you bring a water bottle if you are coming tonight. It's supposed to be very warm!

Get off at Alewife and take underpass across to movie

see the start of the park. Walk up the trail and when
you get toward the top of the hill you'll see football
goal posts. The Track runs around these, so walk
towards them. Shouldn't me more than a 10-12 minute
walk from Alewife.

There are also some bus routes that will get you there. See http://www.cambridgema.gov/DHSP2/danehy.cfm for more information.

We will also have a few people available to give people a lift to Danehy via car. If you are interested in getting a ride there, please let us know as soon as you can and we will plan accordingly.

Meghan, Can we do 7:30 AM and meet as Mass Ave and Memorial Drive.  You can park right on Memorial Drive that early for free.  If 7:30 is too early, 8:00 is fine.  I have no doubts that you will be able to keep up.  Looking forward to meeting a new Luna Chix

Thanks Emma!

I definitely will be there though my first run probalby won't be until the 8th.  I love running with people because my usual 9-10min/mile ends up being much quicker, just like you said.  I'm thinking of running a marathon overseas so having people to do a long run with every once in awhile is really great.  I trained by myself last time and it was a challenge.

Your group sounds like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

See you soon!

Hi Everyone,
I am new and have never run with the Luna Chix. I am a teacher in Virginia Beach and training for the Rock-N- Roll Marathon and I am home visiting friends and family for two weeks in Waltham. I ran a half marathon a year ago but am having trouble getting motivated to do a few long runs for this one and would love to run with a group. My pace for a long run 3+ miles is probably somewhere between an 8:10-8:50 minute mile. If any of you plan on getting together in a small group this week to run, other than the Wednesday night run, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks so much =)

Hi,

I just joined this group this past week too and am very much looking forward to the next Wednesday run.

I happened to read these emails very quickly and missed the mention of HALF-marathon in your messages and thought I was way out of my league when I saw your times! I was rethinking whether or not I should show my face so I'm glad I went through everything again!!

See you all soon!

I would like to do a longish run this weekend 7/8 miles. My pace is about 9-9.5 minute miles, I would love to do either Saturday or Sunday morning.

I wanted to remind everyone that in place of this week's Wednesday night run, we will be holding a speed clinic at Danehy field in Somerville at 6:30pm.  (That's tomorrow,  Wednesday, July 25.)

Directions to Danehy:
Get off at Alewife and take underpass across to movie
theater/wholefoods parking lot. Go past the movie
theater and to the right of the theater, and you'll
see the start of the park. Walk up the trail and when
you get toward the top of the hill you'll see football
goal posts. The Track runs around these, so walk
towards them. Shouldn't me more than a 10-12 minute
walk from Alewife.

We will also have a few people available to give people a lift to Danehy via car. If you are interested in getting a ride there, please let us know and we will plan accordingly.

This is a great opportunity to learn some training techniques- whether you are preparing for a 5k, a marathon, or anything in between. Hope to see you there!

Not sure if you all will get this in time- but I think I'll do my own

you have a great time and see you next week!

Oh, yay! I am totally running this race! Last year was my first
year running it, and it was great! It's also 2 weeks before I run
the Nike Women's Marathon, so it'll be a good substitute long run.
Who else is in?! :)

Anne or anyone else up for running this weekend. I hope to do 6 miles
either Saturday afternoon, cannot do morning. Or Sunday morning.

Hello all,

I wanted to let you know that the location for the speed clinic on Wednesday, July 25 has changed. We will now be doing our workout at Danehy field in Somerville, at 6:30pm.

Directions to Danehy:
Get off at Alewife and take underpass across to movie
theater/wholefoods parking lot. Go past the movie
theater and to the right of the theater, and you'll
see the start of the park. Walk up the trail and when
you get toward the top of the hill you'll see football
goal posts. The Track runs around these, so walk
towards them. Shouldn't me more than a 10-12 minute
walk from Alewife.

We will also have a few people available to give people a lift to Danehy via car. If you are interested in getting a ride, please let us know and we will plan accordingly.

Sorry for the confusion - but Danehy has a really nice track and it should be a great time!
