Hi Carla,
That sounds good to me. I'm planning on getting to the field around
7:15 or so to warm up and all. I'll look for you guys near the
registration table. I'll be with little "entourage" I'll have my
parents, brother, sister and boyfriend in tow!
I'm getting excited, I just hope the rain gods give us a break.
See you Sun.

Just wanted to wish everyone who's running good luck on Monday!

Carla.. you are so good looking out for everyone. I was there last night, it was very humid, but overall a nice evening to run. We had a good group there was 7 of us, I enjoyed meeting the new members that I had missed from before. I am going to pick up a reflective vest to wear in future, as it does get dark, but still perfect for running in.

Hey Guys - Sorry I missed yesterday. I was at a training all day, then had
to go out to Fitchburg and couldn't get to my email until this morning. And
to top it off, my home computer crashed, so now I only have email while at
work. Arghhh......
Most likely, I WILL be there next week.

Heather, we can compromise re: speed!
I live in the Leather District, so I am up for wherever in the
city.. We can even meet halfway, say the North End and do some
winding city routes too..

Thanks Emma—it’s great that we had 7 again!
It’s a nice group and it’s good to see momentum building—glad you were able to
make it…and good thinking about that vest. I guess 6:30 is still a good time
for people, even though it’s darker and darker now. See you on Sunday, btw. We
need to make a plan to meet somewhere. Is your husband going? I think my
boyfriend is, but I’m not sure where he should place himself along the course. Any
recommendations?

Tonight's run......
Carla.. you are so good looking out for everyone. I
was there last night, it was very humid, but overall a nice evening to run. We
had a good group there was 7 of us, I enjoyed meeting the new members that I
had missed from before. I am going to pick up a reflective vest to wear in
future, as it does get dark, but still perfect for running in.

Tonight was supposed to be my first run with the group. I was there...just quite a bit late. I got tied up at work so I didn't get to the bridge until 6:45. My loss! Anyway, it was a beautiful night for a run. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
I'll be runningTufts on Monday so I'll plan to swing by the booth and introduce myself! Good luck to anyone else running!

Thanks everyone! While not happy to hear others are experiencing this,
I feel like I'm gettting some terrific advice and I'm not alone. I've
never had an issue before, but then again I've never done endurance
events until this year (i.e Jay Challenge). I probably could have done
a better job on training front. But as a result, I've learned a ton of
stuff about my body - and the need to adequately train/stretch and
strengthen.
Again, appreciate the feedback/advice from all of you -- and feel much
more positive now! So, with that - going to dig up the Pilates book I
bought earlier this year and do some core work.
Good luck both of you with your various rehab stints - and we'll have
to compare notes on a RUN sometime! Thanks so much :)

Well maybe your speed will inspire me to catch up!! I'd hate to slow you down, though. I had just found out about the group, so I hadn't even got a chance to go on the regular runs yet because my schedule doesn't permit Wednesday nights. I am in Charlestown, so the river runs are definitely convenient for me.

Is anyone else having problems with yahoo mail, I am not getting them to about 3 hours after they post.
Yup, I will be there... I feel on the way to work this morning, feeling a bit stiff but I think the run will do me the world of good, loosen me up a bit...
Re: yoga, I recentlty started it and as someone with really tight muscles, agree that is it great way to incorporate some stretching...

Allison--bummer about the hip flexor! I did have some issues there at one point, and stretching did help, but in my case, it cleared up over time as I cut back on running. It was during a winter timeframe, so I was running less anyway so it kind of healed itself naturally. Yoga is helpful too, since it's all about stretching--do you do any of that?
Re tonight: Roz and Emma, can you be hostesses tonight? We're down to four of us not on the DL!
Found this link when looking for some insight into a minor injury I have and was having trouble finding a way to describe it to my doctor. I know there are plenty of sites/resources out there - but this provided a simple, distilled down list of Common Runner Injuries. Just thought I'd share:
That being said, I'll have to pass sadly on this evening's run as I'm trying to rest this funky hip thing prior to Monday. Has anyone else experienced tweaks from time to time in this area -
hip flexor?
As many have said in this forum - stretching is SO important! Hope you find this helpful, Allison
Hiya, wanted to add my 2 cents here..
I am a yoga instructor, and I recently (last month) got done with
my latest physical therapy stint. I shouldn't even be running with
all the issues I deal with, but hey, I can't help it, I'm an addict
=P
Core strength is essential with hip stability - whether you do it
with pilates or yoga or whatever, it's so important! I personally
have always had the weakest abdominals, but my recent rehab showed
me some ways to strengthen my core area, and I have to say, that
combined with some other stretches and exercises I've been doing for
my hips/pyriformis have really helped.
Good luck!

Hey Heather-
I'm more of a 8-9min miler, but am up for the occasional Saturday am
run! Where were you thinking? The normal route, or a different one?

I am disappointed that I probaby won't be able to make the Wednesday night runs, but I was wondering if anyone in the group in the 9-10 min mile range is interested in a Saturday morning run?
Thanks,

It's 11.20 in Burlingame Park, Charlestown, RI
Here's the website giving further details:

This was the first race I ever did and the longest distance too...it was a great
introduction
into racing. Everyone is super friendly.

Where is the RI race? I would definetly be up for that. I am orginally from Newport.

I've been having a lot of hip flexor problems myself this year and
since stretching just doesn't seem to do it, I've found a foam roller
to be really helpful. You can get one for about $15 at CitySports,
and You'll know when you're on the right spot b/c it'll hurt like
someone's pushing on a pressure point hold it until you feel the
muscle release (or can't take it anymore). Doing this regularly has
helped me a lot.
I think stregthening the lower abdominals is supposed to help with
hip flexor problems too. Another thing Yoga will probably help with!

Katrina and other runners: some of the "regulars" won't be there tonight
(including me and Cynthia and Allison), but I think everyone knows the
routine, where to meet and wait for each other, the main route, and the
various offshoots. I'm just sorry I won't be there to chat with folks
and go for the run... Send us a report tomorrow!
Now, the mother hen in me: please be careful, watch out for each other,

May or may not be joining ya'll tonight. My car is in the shop (I took
it in for ONE problem and they find more, when it rains it pours huh?)
Hopefully they'll finish up before the end of the work day. If not
I'll be running on my own :(
