Re: [BostonLUNAchix] A few upcoming races

Thanks so much for passing this on! I think I am going to do the Montrail Race. It looks really fun.

THE THOMAS CHAMBERAS 6K XC RACE
August 24
The Thomas Chamberas 6K XC Race on August 24 in Carlisle, Mass. is a
great way to kick off your fall racing season! Quickly becoming a New
England Classic, the Chamberas race offers something for everyone.

The course: The course through Great Brook Farm State Park is a 6K
with a great mixture of grass, dirt trails, some roots and rocks and
one steep hill. It's not a fast course for a PR, but it's a runner's
course, designed by experienced XC runners and for XC runners. There's
a course map available on the web site for more detail.

The competition: In years past, we've gotten under 100 runners ranging
from Olympic trials qualifiers and World Mountain Running Team members
all the way back to walkers and first-time XC racers. Brought to you
by trail running club New England Track & Trail, you can be sure to
see some top runners at the front of this race, but as it's a
fundraiser, we certainly encourage all ability levels to come out.
Past results are available on the web site. The race is sanctioned by
USATF and is part of the USATF-New England Cross Country Grand Prix
and the Eastern New England Trail Racing Series.

The prizes: We have a variety of sponsors onboard to donate
merchandize and gift certificates including Darn Tough socks, running
shoes from La Sportiva, Etonic, Reebok, Brooks and Asics and many more.

The cause: This race was originally started as a fundraiser for the
Thomas Chamberas Memorial Runner's Scholarship in memory of U Mass
Lowell XC alumni Tom Chamberas. Today, it is also a fundraiser for the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. More information on the history of the
race and the fundraising efforts are available on the web site.

For more info: To register, either fill out and mail in the attached
form or register online.
