I just posted pics of a bunch of new rangs that I've been working on
the last couple of months in the folder titled "Bruce Bernstein's
Boomerangs" located in the Photos section.
Nice looking booms. I like that you have such a nice variety of
designs. I mentioned this in another post, but have you looked at http://etsy.com - all things hand made? You might think about putting
a few of these rangs on there. I bet they'll sell.
Cheers!

Great stuff, Bruce. Love the copper. Not only does it
look awesome, I imagine it also protects the wingtips.
I bet it would look nice if you were to allow a patina
to build up on the metal. That might not be good for
flight, though.
Bruce, how do you get the copper to stay on? Do you
need to use some kind of glue or is it simply
friction?

Actually I used a lot of clear coating to help prevent patina from
forming, although I imagine it probably will do do eventually anyway.
I really like the shiny bright finish on the copper contrasting with
the dark stained wood, all with a gloss finish.
I doubt the copper will protect too much. The aircraft ply is
probably stronger! I just hope it survives the intial flight testing
in reasonable shape.
I used 5 minute epoxy to glue the copper sheeting to the wood.
I used for mainly for the weight, and to

Nice rangs there Bruce. I’m very interested in the Smith style
fading trailing edges. Have you got ‘normally’ airfoiled rangs to compare them
to? And also how thick is the copper? Roughly how much weight does it add to
each rang? Looks like you have some real distance candidates.
Cheers
Ollie

Hi Everyone..
I just posted pics of a bunch of new rangs that I've been working on
the last couple of months in the folder titled "Bruce Bernstein's
Boomerangs" located in the Photos section.
Each square inch is approx 1.25 grams, so without measuring I'm
guessing I've added from approx 5-10 grams depending on the rang.
I used 5 min epoxy and after hand shaping the copper the best I
could, I shaped it with a spoon. Before gluing, I used 80 grit
sandpaper on the wood under the copper, and on the inside surface of
the copper itself.
Ollie... I'm not sure what you want to know about the "fading
airfoils".... I've seen regular "Smith" airfoiling and fading
airrfoils. The main thing is the trailing edges are similar to the
leading edges, reducing lift, while adding a very small touch of
weight and I imagine drag to the wing tips. Feel free to ask me more,
so I can hopefully help in answering your question.
Emmanuel... does my Voyager shaped MTA work? Got me!!! I hope to test
it soon, and will report back.

How do you get the copper to lay so flat
around those curves?
It adds a lot of interest.
Very nice,

Hello rang lovevers ,
I have some new photos to share . The link will take you to an
album .The new photos are on page 13-16 .
Keep in mind the colors are off , the florescents dont look
florescent . They the florescent red reads as tomato red , the metalic
gold is reading as white or tan . The new paint scheme includes 9
stripes with gold tips .Not the set of stipes are white ,yellow ,red .
Its a nice starburst pattern in real like . The picture at the end is
simply 2 rangs atop one another its not a 10 winged rang .I just liked
the star burst pattern .I ran out of film or I would have put it on my
kids head like a halo to illustrate the patron saint of
boomerangs .The hole can fit on your head like a hat .Note the silver
and gold may look white but its not in real life .
