which wing to throw by...   Message List

Good question, Vinny.
I've thrown by all 3 major sections of a 2 wing rang.

Consider the hand as a fulcrum,
throwing via the leading wing places the leverage in front  of the fulcrum. on heavy rangs or maybe when power throwing, lead wing is probably best.

on lighter rangs and  a strong thrower, probably dingle wing(trailing wing) seems to work.

If you have some spectators, and you want to confuse them...toss via the elbow:)

Generally speaking, I'll throw trad shape LEADING WING.
the more compact shapes I will vary which wing to use.

I seem to get more spin, when I toss dingle wing.

I have noticed that beginners who tend to rotate their hand too much at the release, seem to do better throwing via the trailing wing.

... Arm, that is when you throw? (this could be the only place I
could ask that and NOT get punched out!)

I did a quick survey of boomerang websites and searched through this
group as well to see what arm is the preferred arm to throw from.

I think it depends on the design of the boomerang. Rangs like Harding's hurricane hook, some Colorado rangs and the LD rang voyager are design to be thrown...
