Hey Guys 'n Gals,
Some years ago I was experimenting with shapes, production techniques, etc., for a boomerang that flies like a Hurricane hook but could eliminate one of my big productions problems.
Remember how you study the sheet of plywood before laying out the boomerangs, especially those that are not symmetrical? Well, I did just that when I needed to cut out a large number of Hurricane Hooks. Normally, I cut out my boom shapes, then put the inside elbow across a 1 inch square bar to allow the plywood's internal stresses to relieve plywood stress to a minimum before going further. Well, when I did that to one of the sheets of plywood and cut out right handers, the internal stresses were such that all my righties turned into left hand blanks if I considered the concave side of the blanks the top.
I ended with lots of lefty Hurricane Hooks, certainly not what I had in mind. The shape was concave enough that making right hand booms from them would be difficult. Though if I was making them for myself I would probably microwave and bend them, I would never do that for any of the boomerangs I sell to others.
Well, to make a long story shorter, I ended up buying another sheet of plywood for the right handers. The experience however, told me that it would be good to find another way to make the cutout boomerang blanks generic and give them the left or right hand treatment after the blanks relieved their internal stresses.
Since I was living in Carthage, Tennessee, I decided to name this new boomerang "The Carthage". I had cut out some blanks to insure the idea worked, but they hung in the shop for about 7 years before I noticed them again just before coming up here to Gary's shop.
I brought the blanks with me, shaped, tested, and painted them here. I have 10 of these boomerangs finished now, the only ones I've ever made for sale of this design, all are right hand. It is likely that there will be no more! They are almost like hurricane Hooks, and all fly beautifully. There are three Green, three red, and four yellow with black webbing on them. While they last, I'm offering these for $40.00 each, and if ordering, please list color preference as 1, 2, and 3. I will fill those requests in the order received. When gone, that's it. I don't even have one.
This is a picture of the free or "dingle" arm; the other arm has the same shape as the throwing arm of the Hurricane hook. It could be a Hurricane Hook if the arms in the picture were like the free arm of the Hurricane Hook.

OK, well not exactly like the Hurricane Hook, the free arm chords are different, but not by much!
If you order, please add $5.00 for packaging and shipping. Thanks.
