I have rearranged some of the .50 caliber shooters and from five of the .50
caliber positions have created 15 new .30 cal (or smaller caliber if you
want) positions at the west end of the .50 caliber ghetto. From these
positions you will be able to shoot at some of the 380 yard targets as well
as all of the 575 and beyond targets.

If you want one of the positions send me an email with your phone number,
your name, and the names of up to two other people. These additional people
must be designated as either spotters (no charge) or shooters. I will
respond within a day or two with your shooting position number (8A->11C are
currently available) and how to pay for the position.

These are available on a first come first serve basis.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to give me a call or send an email.

Not only is the clinic full but the main event is nearly full. Excluding the
.50 Caliber Ghetto there are only found positions still available. Three of
those are on the berm and one on the ground in the middle of the main
shooting area.

If you plan to attend you need to sign up very soon:

I have confirmation that the Steve Joachim will be back with his anvils and
again attempt to put one of them into orbit.

Gene Econ will be putting on his always sold out Precision Rifle Clinic.

And of course there will be hundreds of highly reactive targets made up over
1000 pounds of high explosives.

were interested in reserved positions that I want to implement that before
accepting the entries.

The price will remain the same as last year. There were only a few in the
survey that disagreed with the statement that the price was reasonable and
one that strongly disagreed with the statement. But this last guy said he
thought the price should be $4000/person so it sort of balances out.

The Precision Rifle Clinic will be April 27th and 28th.

The hotel package option isn't going to happen this year. Too much work for
me to do at this time. Maybe next year. The survey did show some interest in
that. So you can go ahead and make your hotel reservations if you want.

Sorry, but because there are multiple lists I am sending this to it's
certain some of you are getting multiple copies.

My way overdue survey for Boomershoot 2006 is now available:

http://survey.boomershoot.org/

It doesn't matter if you were there as a shooter, spotter, spectator, or
even if you just heard about the event and didn't attend. There is a survey
for everyone.

I want feedback of any type. But just because I'm listening doesn't mean
I'll change. But I will consider it. And if you want to send an email or
give me a call that works for me too.

I plan to announce the dates and prices for Boomershoot 2007 sometime this
weekend. Please get your survey results in before that.

Thanks.

Boomershoot 2006, March 30th, still has a few openings left. Get your
entries in soon if you want to participate! Spectators are welcome but it's
more fun to play with the rest of the crowd. Be sure to bring a carbine for
the end of the day clean up from 25 to 50 yards away. Entry details are
here:

http://www.boomershoot.org/2006/blast.htm#Entry

If you can't make it to Boomershoot 2006 there are some other events you
might be interested in:

The Gateway-Unaweep (Colorado) Fire Department is putting on their
semi-annual dynamite shoot on May 6th:

Boomershoot will have more targets (several hundred) and more total
explosive weight (about 1000 pounds) but I'm certain these events will be a
blast compared to sitting at home and feeling sorry for yourself.

Sorry, but some of you will get three copies of this email.  This is going out to three different lists and some people are on all three lists.

Some of you already know this but many others don't.  There is a new Yahoo group for discussion of Boomershoot.  The official description is:

This discussion group is for enthusiasts of the annual Boomershoot long range shooting event in Northern Idaho.

You can subscribe to the list by sending an email to:

Site information that I thought was available on the web site (and probably is--I just can't find it) is now being sent out in all the entry acknowledgements.  Please keep this in mind when you are selecting gear to bring:

Except for the .50 caliber area shooting position are six feet wide and about 15 feet deep.

There are currently 29 shooting positions still available.  These won't last long.  My advertising doubled the traffic on Boomershoot.org and I expect the event to fill up by the end of March.  The clinic is full but has a waiting list.  Contact Gene Econ for details: http://www.boomershoot.org/2006/clinic.htm

Boomershoot 2005 is less than five weeks away. It should be the best
Boomershoot ever. Last year we had a problem--we didn't know what the
problem was then but the target bodies we used made things much more
difficult to detonate. We replaced them with something much easier to get
through. We also make the mix more sensitive and a lot more powerful. The
new targets will have the largest exposed face ever. The targets will be
bright white, red, and yellow. They will be easy to see and easier to talk
to your shooting partner into. We have people from Alaska, California,
Canada, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico and North Dakota. A
Seattle television show is sending a crew over to film it. Several
freelance writers will be attending.

Now the bad news--there are just 19 shooting positions available. Even with
the expanded shooting line I think we will sell out. If you want to attend
you had best send in your entry NOW. Why? I just placed the ads for the
local media. Local meaning all of north Idaho and from western Montana to
central Washington. Previously entries for the event had only been from ads
on the Internet, repeat participants, and word of mouth referrals. The
locals will start seeing it on Friday. Get your entry in before that flood
hits.

And whether you are attending or not there is swag available. For those of
you that don't know what swag is:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=swag

Or if you want to figure it out on your own:

http://www.cafepress.com/boomershoot

Let all the gun fearing wussies know there is more to fear that just
handguns. What they should fear the most, they haven't seen yet.

I got an email from Eugene Econ, the clinic instructor, today. Details are
here:

http://www.boomershoot.org/2005/clinic.htm#Status

The most important bit of information is that he only has two slots open.

This is amazing. The clinic going to be sold out by the third week of
January--nearly three and a half months prior to the event. I've expanded
the number of shooting positions for the main event so I still have lots of
room there but if I hadn't it would be two thirds full now instead of one
third. In absolute numbers I'm signing people faster than ever before.

I updated the blogger list here:

I attribute bloggers for the apparent increase in attendance. Thanks

Eugene Econ has released the details of the Boomershoot 2005 Precision Rifle
Clinic. I invited him to make the clinic a two day event instead of just
one this year--Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th.

Here is a snippet of the email he sent me:

----
I will run a clinic on the 29th if I can get at least ten folks to sign up.
30th for sure no matter how many sign up.

This year all profits are going to the 'Lancer Memorial Fund'. This is a
501-C fund established by the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker
Brigade Combat Team) that I have been working for full time for the last 18
months. You can read a description of this fund in my Clinic Bulletin. The
purpose is good and unfortunately, the Brigade has sustained some casualties
that have kind of hit this fund pretty hard.

News From the Gateway - Unaweep Fire Department

Hello all!

Can it be that the Dynamite Shoot in Gateway is almost here again!?!?

The CORRECT answer is "yes" and the action starts at 10:00 AM on October 2,
2004 (Saturday) in Gateway, Colorado. Our community is certainly preparing
for another great event.

The shooting range has been greatly improved since the May shoot. This
includes:

. Extra benches for the bench rest shooters
. ALL bench rest shooting areas are now covered under a new canopy
. Running Deer has been COMPLETELY REBUILT (you read right!)
. Pistol shoot has been moved next to Running Deer
. More volunteers
. Many improvements to our processes
. More volunteers to assist in sales and support

We are getting ready for our guests and here is a list of what we still need
from you:

SAFETY: Please be aware of all safety issues. When you are not on the line
preparing to shoot or shooting your gun chamber MUST be empty, your muzzle
must be POINTED UP and your finger OFF the trigger.

AGE: Any shooter aged 14 or under must have a current Hunter Safety Card and
be under the supervision of an adult.

SPOTTING SCOPES: Our Fire Department does not own many of these things.
Please understand that if you are shooting at the distance targets you may
have to be responsible for your own spotting scope too!!!! Very often many
of our patrons have their own that they let others use and this is greatly
needed and appreciated. Please consider helping everone out by letting
others use yours!

SUGGESTIONS: We will have a suggestion box located near the ticket area.
Any ideas you have on how we can improve this event are greatly valued.

SUPPORT: Of course, your continued support is always appreciated!!!

Note that posting of political banners, flyers, etc is not allowed at this
event unless it has been approved by our board prior to the event.

Note too that the Range Boss is the final referee of all shooting events,
guns, rules, interpretations, targets, etc. The Range Boss' decision is
final.

Remember that the Gateway Community Club will be serving breakfast until
they run out of food and, likewise, the Gateway School will be serving
burgers, hot dogs and refreshments.

That's it. See you in a few days!

-The Gateway - Unaweep Fire Department

PS: This is an alcohol and drug free event. Always keep safety foremost in
all your actions and plans.

There are SIGNIFICANT discounts for early entries. These discounts fade away
by the end of this year. Get your entries in early for incredible deals on
this unique event.

http://www.boomershoot.org/2005/blast.htm

The target distributions haven't been decided yet. That somewhat depends on
how many entries we get. The final numbers will be decided by the time we
have to order supplies in the January/February timeframe.

There will be another Precision Rifle Clinic. The details for that are not
yet available. I will post them on the web and send out an announcement when
they become available.

Also note there are few more new pictures on this web page which I didn't
mention in my last email:

http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/Preparation.htm

The Boomershoot 2004 video is available now. It is in documentary form, is
getting great reviews, and is far more factual than anything Michael Moore has
done. Contact scottddavis [at] idahovandals [dot] com if you would like a
copy.

Sorry but some of you will get two copies of this. If you signed up for the
announcement list and participated in the last event you qualify for this
special treatment. The 2004 participant list will be destroyed after this
email goes out so you won't need to worry about getting rid of the
duplicates for a while.

I've been up all night and finally have the Boomershoot 2004 pictures and
After Action Report from the Precision Rifle Clinic up on the web site.

See http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/blast.htm for links.

I have set the dates for the next event, April 30 and May 1. I don't have
the details available yet but when I do I will send an email out to the
announcement list. There will be discounts available for early sign ups.

We still have some slots open for everything except the Precision Rifle
Clinic. If you want to just show up at registration time 9:00 -> 9:50
Friday and/or Sunday or during the UltiMAK event 18:00 -> 19:00 Friday
evening you will be able to get in. The weather forecasts are the best I
have ever seen for a spring event and with over a ton of explosives and over
1300 targets this is almost for certain going to be the best Boomershoot
ever.

I'm off to the range and I won't have email contact until Sunday night.
Give me a call if you have questions. 208-301-4254.

We are only one week away from Boomershoot 2004 but there are still a few
positions open in all the events. The Precision rifle clinic is full
however. Contact Eugene Econ about getting on the waiting list --
eaecon@...

I don't know if you guys have done the math or not, but with the current
number of entries and the number of targets participants in the main events
will have over 20 targets per shooting position. In the past it has usually
been less than 10. This year the targets also will be about 15% easier to
hit. And the average size of the targets this year will be nearly twice the
size as last year. Assuming the weather is reasonable this is going to be
an awesome event! Get your entries in REALLY soon and have a blast with us.

http://www.boomershoot.org/general/entry.htm

And if you don't have the long range rifle and ammo ready yet (Bob, did you
remember to remove that stuck bullet from your barrel from two years ago?)
you can participate in the UltiMAK event using free ammo and guns supplied
by UltiMAK. This is a up close and personal event with full size targets no
further than 50 yards away (some as close as 25 yards).

As some of you know we have had some good coverage in the past and our
PR person, Stephanie Sailor, is working on some more coverage for this
year. But our neighbors to the south, in Colorado, got some great
coverage for their event that I thought you might be interested in:

http://www.5280.com/issues/current/havingablast.php

I also wanted to update you on things for the Boomershoot coming up in
just over five weeks. There are still lots of slots open for the main
events. The Precision Rifle Clinic is full with a waiting list. The
Friday evening UltiMAK event has a few slots left and will probably fill
up even though I plan on adding a few more slots to it.

One of the trees that partially block the view of the hillside will
almost for certain be coming down prior to the event. That will give us
a few more options on where to place the targets.

The links for the entries are all on here on this page:

http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/blast.htm#Entry

See some of you in May, it'll be a blast!

For those of you that want a warm up for Boomershoot 2004 -- just the
week before is the Gateway event. Different format, but if you are a
good enough shooter you can make some money on the event.

News From the Gateway - Unaweep Fire DepartmentHello all!

It is almost that time of the year again...the time when the snow melts
and the shooters return to Gateway!

Our spring shoot is on Saturday, May 1st and should be just as much fun
as the last several. We are hoping to make more improvements to the
shoot and certainly appreciate your participation and suggestions.

We hope to see you there in May. Please forward this email to any of
your area's gun clubs, sport stores or gun enthusiasts...we depend
greatly on the success of this event and truly need every shot we can
get!

Here is a link that explains the shoot (for those of you who have never
visited).

The precision rifle clinic filled up late last week. Eugene sends this
message:

----
Tell the folks to write me an e-mail asking to be on the waiting list.
No money is necessary. I will get hold of them on a first come first
serve basis and they can pay me at the clinic.
----

There are still a few slots open in the UltiMAK event
(http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/UltiMak.htm). I'm surprised by some of
the entries I have received. Local people are signing up for just this
one portion of the event. I expected only people shooting in the
regular event would participate. But I was wrong.

All the items with lead times are ordered and will arrive on time. See
http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/blast.htm#Status for the latest info. As
usual the only thing in question is the weather. The field is supposed
to get another 5 to 8 inches of snow tonight to go with the similar
amount it got a couple days ago.

To enter the main event print out this page:
http://www.boomershoot.org/general/entry.htm
Fill it out and send your check or money order in.

We have a corporate sponsor for a special event on Friday evening.
Check it out:

http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/Ultimak.htm

If you have already signed up for the main event and wish to participate
in this event as well just send in your check, no need to get all the
signatures for the understanding of the rules.

Also, it has been pointed out to me that this year's Boomershoot is on
Mother's Day weekend. My mistake. I chose the weekend because of when
the local high school kids had Thursday and Friday off to help. I
haven't told my wife yet and I'm sure I will pay dearly for my
scheduling error. For the mothers that attend on Sunday I have some
compensation. 1) You will be able to shoot for free. If you have
already paid let me know and I'll have your refund waiting for you when
you sign in. 2) Special arrangements will be made for you -- the
details will be revealed just after lunch on Mother's day.
Unfortunately for me this will not be adequate compensation for my wife
-- she doesn't like loud noises.

The Shotgun News ads (in cooperation with UltiMak) will be appearing
soon. Get your entries in soon before the rush starts if you want to
attend.

The ads in Shotgun News and American Rifleman will be appearing soon. I
expect Boomershoot 2004 to sell out quickly and I want people on this
list and previous participants to get the first chance.

For details on the plans for the event check out:

http://www.boomershoot.org/2004/blast.htm
