In the new issue of the Sporting News, the magazine has ranked the Dodgers
outfield as number 11
out of 16 in the National League. Listed are Luis Gonzalez in left field, Juan
Pierre in center
field and Andre Ethier in right field. The reserves are Marlon Anderson and
Jason Repko. What
the article says is that this group won't generate much power and that Gonzalez
is viewed as the
bridge to youngster Matt Kemp and that Ethier must be more consistent. Here's
the list for each
league and the top five outfielders in each league too. I will assume the
rankings have to do
with offense as well as defense.

Top 5 Outfielder in the NL
1. Carlos Beltran - New York Mets
2. Andruw Jones - Atlanta Braves
3. Jason Bay - Pittsburgh Pirates
4. Alfonso Soriano - Chicago Cubs (I question this one and would put Edmonds
here, even at 36)
5. Carlos Lee - Houston Astros (I question this one too, I mean if it's about
offense then I have
to wonder why not Manny Ramirez for the Red Sox too?)
What does everyone else think about this and I guess Soriano is going to be
playing center field
for the Cubbies too!
