John Olerud has been optioned to the minor leagues for Seattle. I am assuming that he will decline and will be a free agent. I think if Encarnacion is going to be out for the season, it might be good for us to try to sign him for the remainder of the season than say to trade for Delgado and his huge deal. Seattle would have to pay Olerud's salary for the remainder of the season so I would assume the Dodgers could just pay him the minimum. I don't think adding him could be any worse than not. He is a great defensive first baseman especially if Green will be playing more in right field. I know that the Giants have shown interest and would love to get him instead of them. Frankly I don't understand why the Giants have shown interest because they have a good defensive first baseman in JT Snow.
